I just finished a series of 75 half hour long videos about building a 4 bore rifle. It goes into a good amount of detail on every step along the way. It might be interesting to someone thinking about getting into building guns. I got kicked off You Tube a little while ago so I got it all on Rumble. Here is a link to the first video in in the series.

I watched the first four of these this evening, and will be continuing to watch more in the series. They have a lot of good info and have been very interesting to me, Thanks!

The real question his why? I built a 2 bore under hammer for a fellow about 15 years ago. Was really over the top heavy, I did not shoot the thing. With powder and other stuff in short supply one has to ask is it worth while and what are you hunting that needs a quarter pound ball... Elephants, Rhinos, dinosaurs?

Why build it? Because I read too many adventure stories when I was a kid. Now I can go to the shooting range and live out my fantasy of being an African explorer 170 years ago. Not shooting elephants or dinosaurs. But I do shoot at paper. It makes pretty holes and I get 14 shots from a pound of powder. Maybe someday I will shoot a watermelon with it. Is there a better reason to get a gun than that?

I guess it's like asking why does a man climb a mountain, because it's there.
That's a good way to look at it.

The value of a challenging DIY project isn't only in the end result. It's the whole process of accomplishing it -- planning, engineering, overcoming obstacles, developing skills, etc.

My own DIY projects, gun-related or otherwise, have been valuable learning and proficiency-building experiences (in my case, mostly from failures along the way).
