Which one would you pick Burris XTR2 5-25 or Vortex PST gen2 5-25? It seems like i can get the Vortex for about 250$ cheaper is the XTR2 worth the extra cash? Optic will be mounted on a Savage 10t-sr in 6.5 cm.
I've only bought one Burris optic and that was from LaRue Tactical about 10 years ago. It showed up damaged so I swapped it for a Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5X that I still have. I do have three of the Vortex Viper PST Gen I scopes, mil/mil FFP and they've all been very good for the price point. Given my very positive experience with Vortex RAZOR HD binoculars and the three Vipers I would expect the Gen II to be even better. I just bought a RAZOR HD 4.5-27x56mm EBR-7C scope that appears to be of very high quality. I'm not a fan of Vortex's lower end stuff, particularly the products marketed towards ARs of which I have three, but Viper PST and above seem to be good value for money and based on my experience are durable.
I got the xtrII 5-25 on my tikka 308
The optic is extremely clear. Zero stop works perfect and has a great range of elevation. Plus nearly 60moa of elevation using the reticle.
Keep in mind the Burris is a 34mm tube vs 30mm
i found the articles in this blog interesting: https://www.outdoorsbest.com/
I have a Gen1 Vortex PST 6-24 and the 5-25 XTR II. Without experience with the Gen2 Vortex it is really hard to give a comparison but I am super happy with the XTR II and would buy another.
