buy multiple range bags?

I have slowly acquired some better bags, but for a while some of my single-caliber bags were these:

Prices vary, but I got them for about $2 each. Lots of good and sturdy bags around, esp if you don't need internal organization because have-multiple-bags is the organization. Solid plan.

(They are indestructible bags btw, still use them for storing second-tier stuff like all my camp cookware, spare water bottles, etc. as a different level of organizer. Just went into some for a field trip the other week, and very useful. Also the vinyl takes stencils and silver sharpie very well, to label them).

Sometime you go heavy to the range.

This is my Milwaukee Packout stack. Love these tool boxes for tools and guns.

The half wide box not on the stack is my side-arm box anytime I go to the hunting property to work or hunt.

Pistol in a soft case, holster, a cleaning kit, and jar of pre-oil patches and some spare ammo in a box. In the top tray I have my speed loaders and belt pouches (currently setup for my Model 10) and a Fix-it-Stick tool kit. There is enough spare room that I can drop in a box or two of rifle ammo and magazines for my rifle if I have one too.

This is the third case up from the bottom of the stack. This box goes with me to the range or hunting property any time I go. If going to the hunting property it then gets transferred to the UTV when I am about the property. Its more of an amalgam of a tool kit and safety kit to support range trips and other tasks. My trauma kit features proximately in the red bag, a large variety of tools from a large multi-tool to a mini multi-meter and similar useful gadgets for keeping things going with guns or equipment, spare ear plugs and safety glasses, gloves etc. Everything neatly organize in a very tough water resistant container that tolerates the rough handling very well.

Not that I have anything against soft side range boxes too. I might have a bag/box problem. I like to have options.

I carry a small toolbox for tools and toolbags, mostly Craftsman brand, for ammo. Rifles travel in soft cases, handguns in a hard case or maybe two, depending on just how many I take. I have one of those "large cloth bags" as described by VT. It's actually an Allen canvas range bag that I use for family outings and is stuffed with hearing and eye protection. Someone always forgets something in that department and expects grandpa to have it.

Blackpowder shooting has everything I need except the guns in a larger toolbox.

I searched our local county surplus site, every county has one and picked up a rolling brief case with telescoping handle. It is about 20' wide by 16" deep, by 12" and has three pockets. It can hold everything I need for the range. I only take two pistols and one rifle. It rolls good on rough ground and I am 76 and have lost the strength to carry every thing. Inside the case is Ammo, Hearing Protection, Tools, Shooting glasses, Targets, Shell Catcher, Paper pad and pens and pencils. You can stack rifles on top and pull the case. Try to look on your county's surplus website or a used brief case site. You have to bid on them but usually they go for less than $20.00. They are great for Seniors.

A estate sale got me a brief case that will hold my Ruger Super Redhawk (9 !/2 nch)
and two box's of 44's. very easly.

I probably have a dozen different range bags of one type or another.
Favorites are a couple of very nice leather bags I received as gifts from my wife and son.
My son and I share use of one of the rolling bags the NRA sells as well as the large range bag that Midway sells. They are both nice and very useful.
We also use multiple hard cases to transport some our larger handguns and ammunition generally gets transported in .30cal ammo cans.

Cabelas sells these for about $12. They are usually loose in a big bin in the middle of aisles in their stores and in multiple colors. I've picked up several in assorted colors over the years and use them for a lot of stuff. Including range bags. I'll usually carry at least 2 for range trips. I've used them as a gym bag and even luggage for a one nighter road trip.

Another idea is a tool bag from a hardware store. They tend to be pretty heavy duty and cheaper than a bag sold as a range bag.

This looks like a deal for 3 bags

This question came up a few years ago and someone suggested a diaper bag. No one will steal a diaper bag out of your vehicle.

I bought that Husky set at Christmas for about that price. Very solid bags!
