Anyone have a C7A2 clone (20 inch AR15 with a collapsible stock)?

I'm in the process of building one (I'm waiting on my upper to ship from Palmetto State), and I was just wondering if any members of the THR community use this sort of arrangement. My goal was to make a general purpose rifle with all of the advantages of a 20 inch AR15, but with the more-short-arm-friendly ergos of a collapsible stock.

Thoughts? Experiences?

I am very interested in this. I have a 20" AR that I have been thinking or putting a Magpul CTR stock on.
The Canadians apparently use H3 buffers in their carbine receiver extensions on their 20 inch C7A2s. I'm going to start with a Spikes T2 Buffer and if it's showing signs of being over-gassed, I'll move to an H2 buffer.

It'll also depend on what type of ammo you run. 5.56 NATO is a bit higher pressure than .223, so you may have to adjust buffer weights accordingly. I'm planning on mostly using M193 until I get a feel for the rifle.

I honestly have no clue when it comes to different buffer types. As far as ammo I handload so I can tweek loads to get it shooting how I like. I shoot some 55gr, some 62 or 69... Sometimes they are mixed together, which makes holdover at 400 interesting in a match.

So, the standard A2 rifle buffer weighs in at around 5 oz. Now, the T2 buffer that I'll be using weighs in around 4.3 ounces. If it were just an issue of matching weights, I'd just go with an H2 or H3 buffer, but the spring rates for the carbine receiver extensions are different. If it's well over-gassed you'll speed up wear on the upper, but if it's under-gassed you'll see short-stroking and other malfs. A standard carbine buffer (around 3 ounces) will work for everything, but may affect the long-term reliability and durability of your rifle.

This applies to pretty much every kind of AR15 build. My buddy tore up the inside of his upper receiver pretty quickly while his AR was *way* over-gassed.

Well, the parts have arrived. I'll get a chance to take it out tomorrow or Sunday.

20" PSA FN Upper on carbine stock lower. Spikes T2 buffer.

I'm using an EGW upper, Bushmaster Govt. profile 1-7" barrel, YHM Phantom flash hider.
Magpul MOE grip and ACS stock, will be adding a MOE rifle handguard to replace the A2 round ones.
These are better alternatives to the Canadian originals as is your VLTOR stock set up.

I'm using a DPMS "Heavy" buffer which weighs in at 5.4 ounces and a standard Carbine spring in a VLTOR tube.
Brownells low profile single point sling plate.

Norgon ambi catch and an ambi selector, cut down on the right side.

Bolt and carrier are Colt M16, trigger is a Rock River two stage.

EGW upper is Canadian dimensioned and you do not need an F marked sight tower or tall front post to regulate.

Daniel Defense fixed BUIS which is an aluminum version of the Canadian plastic BUIS
Trijicon RCO on a GG&G quick detach mount which is actually a less expensive alternative to the Canadian Elcan set up.
