Well, this is a bit different from the type of case you mention because I wasn't actually asking the Sheriffs dept. if I could buy ammo from them and have it shipped to me. I just asked if, in general, it was legal for me to order ammunition from any of dozens of online ammo vendors, and they said yes. I then picked the vendor of my choice and clicked "buy" haha. Pretty crappy sting operation, if you ask me.
