Can we agree the .40S&W is a waste of time?

I don't understand the whole caliber hating thing. I suspect the OP is just being a troll.

Have I owned 40SW handguns? Yes. Do I like the round? No. But that is just me. Doesn't mean the round sucks. Likewise, it also doesn't mean that I can't shoot it properly. It just means that I prefer other calibers.

I won't go into what I don't like about the round because it really doesn't matter. I know that a lot of people do like the round and that's cool by me!

Fish is good, period. Raw? Check. Fried? Check. Hushpuppies? Yum. A bit of trivia for fun, seaweed is not plant, it is algae and, yes, I like it too. :)

Please. Sushi is not "new age garbage". You can like what you like and dislike as you wish, but please do not so hastily offend other cultures.
Really? If some culture is offended because I don't like their food, they have bigger issues. There is no right in this country to not be offended. If people choose to be offended by a short, quick and sarcastic remark, not my problem.

Seriously, this is one of the biggest issues this nation faces. People have come to the belief that they have the right to not hear or see things that they disagree with. Interestingly, it is at direct odds with the idea of the first amendment which protects free speech. It protects specifically speech that others would find offensive and disturbing.

There isn't much difference between someone who chooses to be offended by a sarcastic remark about food and someone who chooses to be upset about a t-shirt with a gun or NRA logo on it. Truly astounding IMO.

OP here:
While I admit my opener was a bare-fisted jab at the cartridge, by no means did I intend to denigrate those of you who like it. Initially thinking "Wow, in all the 9mm vs .45 arguments I never see anyone chime in declaring .40 to be the greatest pistol ctg." Following that logic, I chummed the waters....

We truly live in the golden age of pistols, especially LEO trade-in forty caliber stuff. But for me, the 9mm Glock is my most efficient pistol, just as the Prius is my most efficient car. As far as woods guns go, I'm very satisfied w/ my revolvers. Much prefer 6 rds of .357mag :D

Not a waste of time from where I'm sitting. Its the only pistol caliber I've had.

I love my H&K P2000, shoots really nice. Was great with my Sigs too. Cant wait to try it in the Shield later this week.

I don't see what's not to like. Just because there has been some improvement in 9mm ammo doesn't mean .40 has stopped doing its job.

The OP likes Glocks and drives a Prius? I told you he was a troll and should be ignored. (joking, of course, just being equally trollish in my comments!). Good discussion actually. Happy New Year.

I don't like .40; I don't own any .40 and probably never will again (had one in the past); but I don't think it's a waste of time.

For anyone unconvinced about the 9 vs 45 debate, .40 is a fair compromise between bullet diameter and magazine capacity.

I can't decide if this thread is about the FBI switching from fried fish to sushi, or 9mm tasting better than 40S&W... Personally, I like the 45 and I love to shoot steak.
