CBS News: Female Gun Ownership on the Rise

Wholeheartedly agree, which is why my wife knows where our home defense guns are, for while I’m away. This doesn’t help the fact when she is away from home by herself or with the kids she is without a gun for protection.

I take great encouragement in articles like this and women who are starting to take their family and own protection more seriously. It provides great opportunities to speak with women in our families that are already pro-2A but haven’t taken that next step. I’m not one to force someone to carry a firearm, but if they arrive at that conclusion through experiences or conversations that is a win in my book.
If you have minor kids I'm definitely old enough to be your wife's mother or maybe even grandmother, please tell her you have an old lady friend who strongly urges her to find a suitable carryable gun and get competent with it.

If this study was done in 2017 then I believe it is already outdated!

My wife had just started shooting in 2017, she is past 30 something and had never fired a gun before this, in the fall of 2017 she purchased her very own handgun. She found what she liked and bought it. Last year she decided she wanted a larger gun so since she bought the Springfield XD Mod2 and really likes it I suggested she repeat that gun with a 45acp. She now has 2 XD Mod2 and for Christmas I bought her a S&W 380EZ which she now also likes and shoots well. Now if only I could get her to the reloading press!

The problem with "My husband has a gun so I don't need one" is that the husband is not going to be with the wife 24/7. G-d forbid a BG breaks in when the wife is alone... not to mention other even more distressing scenarios.
I totally agree with you. I also look at it this way, if we're confronted with a hostile situation involving guns, chances are I'm the 1st target. If I'm down, I want my wife to, if at all possible, be able to work any of the guns we have on hand.

I agree. My wife and daughter are proficient with all the guns we have on hand.

And please do consider use of body armor. Many AR500 options are becoming more affordable to help save your life and/or keep you in the gun fight.
