Anyone had luck with these as far as accuracy? If so, what rifle or pistol and how long is your barrel...?

CZ 452 Lux barrel/twist is too long I guess. Three shots into 2 inches at 20 yards from a rest. I seem to recall the Marlin 981 Micro Groove did better on pests at that distance, but it is not handy at the moment.

I am also looking for folks who have shot them out of the CZ Scout (with my grandson in mind).

Thanks

M

It'll be the old story of the round matching the rifle. I bought a brick of CCI Quiet a little while back to use in my old vintage rimfires to be kind to the vintage metal.

I've only tested it in a couple of my guns so far. But I was very happy with the results. It shot as well as previously tried SV ammo from one rifle and on the other it has enough power to work the action and for that gun this was a concern due to the age and style of the gun.

I've shot a brick's worth of the Quiet in my rimfires and most seem to shoot it well. Ruger 77/22 (24" and 20") and my Marlin 39's seem to do the best with it in rifles. The Single Six did well too. Didn't cycle my 10-22 and accuracy was fair to OK. The scoped 77/22 will produce 1.5" groups at 50 yards with them. At 25 yards it'll put them into an enlarged hole. Beyond 50 it really starts opening up.

Before that I used the CB Longs and found them to be inconsistent. Too erratic to use on game.

Standard Velocity ammo, CCI and Aquila (subsonic) especially, is pretty quiet, especially out of longer barrels and accurate out to 200 yards.

I bought some thinkin' it was standard velocity stuff. Ooops. Oh, well, I plan to test it in my Rossi revolver and my old Remington 512 bolt gun that seems to shoot EVERYthing well...even shorts, some better'n others, of course. I can tell ya this, don't feed worth a crap in a 10/22...ROFL!

I got curious and just fired 5 out of my old Remmy at 25 yards. I got 1/2" which is okay, but not exactly up to the gun's potential. Only one 5 shot group, though. Haven't fired any more. That gun will shoot all bullets touching with some loads.

I simply don't get the point of the segmented HP in this load. Guess maybe they figure you might want to hunt squirrel with it, but hell, I have taken many a squirrel with a CB short in my Remmy. Probably would need a bit more going for you on a rabbit, though. :D Fun load, no hearing protection needed it's so quiet.

i haven't had real good luck with the Quiet stuff. It isn't terrible but it isn't SV either.

Well, my Dad's 1939 Remmy 510 TM shoots the CCI "Quiet" .22 lrs pretty well.

And less noisy than some air rifles. Keeps your dipstick animal-lovin' neighbors unaware that you're picking off squirrels, chipmunks, possums, raccoons (yes, it will kill them w/ proper head/spinal shots), ... or certain bothersome felines that regularly wander where they shouldn't.

Just sayin'. ;)

Texas has some harsh animal cruelty laws.

That sounds like Ohio's insane laws. Someone dropped off a dog in front of my house. I try to call the dog catcher only to find they have shut down that office because of lack of funds. I called the sheriff's office on advice from a person who worked at a shelter and was told there was nothing they could do. I said I would just put it down rather than watch it starve. Oh no. Can't do that. It's illegal. So a big starving dog is roaming my yard trying to steal food and threatening everything in sight. I politely told that deputy that I would just take the dog to Kentucky and shoot it which is only about 2 miles from my house. I thought the woman was going to explode right on the telephone. I laughed and hung up.

NOBODY is going to tell me that I have to live with some wild animal in my yard. They assumed I would feed the dog instead of watching it starve. That's the typical do-gooder attitude. Force you to do what they think should be done. Wrong.

I won't say how that story ended. I will say I didn't feed the dog and it is no longer hanging out in my yard. I can't afford to feed every dog on the planet and if you take in strays you will quickly get a reputation and about 50 new dogs a month.

It's insane. A feral dog is a terribly dangerous animal. They kill far more people than all wild animals combined. They have no fear of humans most of the time. Some do I guess. That kind can be worse. I used to get feral pit bulls roaming through my yard. I had small children at the time. The day I decided to end that problem someone else must have done it before I could. I never saw them again. A pit bull generates more biting force than a leopard. And they operate with a pack mentality at times. Yeah I need to have a yard full of those.

A neighbor down the road from me had a lab that they fed regular. It ate once a month whether it needed it or not. It came to my yard and stole the food of my dogs and growled at my wife and kids. I went to the owner's house and said do something. He did. For about a week. It came back. That was before the law about killing dogs. It never came back again. It didn't go home again either.

Stupid people who live in cities have NO idea what it's like in the country and they don't care apparently. They actually think the entire country is carved up into blocks with a cop on every corner. The problem is there are too many people in cities. They have an inordinate amount of influence over our government. I have the RIGHT to live without fear of being attacked by wild animals including wild dogs and wild cats.

SSS. It's something every country boy knows these days.

CB Shorts shoot great out of my Savage mk II, with 21" barrel and 1:14 twist. As accurate as anything.

I haven't had as much luck with Super Colibris. Not dependably accurate past 15 yards, and not clean. But you can only just about hear the firing pin drop. I don't know if the CB longs or Quiets will burn as clean as the shorts? I guess you have a magazine feeding issue? I single load the CB shorts, and I'm happy to have any specialty 22LR, at all. I'm down to 50 or so, and I have no clue where to buy more. Where are you getting your ammo?

Whenever I ask, the salesperson doesn't even have to look.

"I've seen 22LR once in the last 3 months. No, it wasn't today."
"We have shotshells."
or
"No. Sure don't!"

Have not shot enough Quiets to say yet.

CBLongs I used to start my kids and it seemed OK for that. More than half the squirrels I shot at with them under 25 yards fell out of the trees or did the Curly Shuffle on the ground.

Both are rather loud.....in a Beretta 21A pocket pistol. In a 20 inch barrel the CBLongs seemed quieter than my FWB127 air rifle.

Neither seem to cycle semi in the Ruger 10/22 or yea olde Nylon 66 but sometimes do in old Savage gill guns, but unreliably.

Perhaps because of the shorter over all length (bullet is shorter than most LR bullets) sometimes CBLongs have magazine issues in box magazines like the SAVAGE/Anshutz shared ones or older Remington 513.

If I see them at reasonable prices I buy them......haven't seen any in a while though.

I'm a real fan of the CCI Quiets for short range shooting or practice. I've never tried them past 25 yards, but inside of 25 yards they are accurate enough for my wants and needs.

I like the reduced noise in revolvers. I even like shooting them in semi-auto pistols as long as you expect to cycle the action manually.

I really like shooting the Quiets in rifle length barrels, too. A 24" barrel is almost like using a suppressor. In my 16" barreled Neos Carbine, the CCI Quiets actually build up enough pressure to cycle the action.

CZ 452 Lux barrel/twist is too long I guess. Three shots into 2 inches at 20 yards from a rest. I seem to recall the Marlin 981 Micro Groove did better on pests at that distance, but it is not handy at the moment.

For casual shooting from a rest I have found that CCI Quiets are a bit more accurate out of my Marlin 39AS than out of my CZ452 Trainer.

i like the CCI Quiet very accurate within 15 yrds. Academy had them last year but I dont see them stocking lately.

I like the CCI quiet loads. I use them mostly in my Marlin 39a at the 25 yard mark, and they group very well. They do open up between 25 and 50 yards. They drop a bit too. They are great for squirrel and quiet enough as to not disturb neighbors, and they pack more than enough punch to make a humane kill on small critters. At 25 yards they pass cleanly through the 1/2 inch boards that I mount paper targets to.
