CCW in a Kilt

This thread makes me happy. in a heterosexual way of course. Gotta get your kilt carry permit also, KCP. Just kidding. yeah umm, i got nothin.

I guess this is something that I SHOULD have considered earlier, but showing up in a skirt usually involved a LOT of alcohol, and I just didn't think about carrying my pistol at that point... my bad.

FYI, if you have a belly band, drop it down to below the waistband of the kilt. Put the holster section where you normally carry. And now you know why ladies complain so much about not having good conceal options. Sucks for them, eh?

I admit this is a half baked idea, so if ya'll wanna toss it out, thats fine by me:

Seems to me like you could take a folding stock shotgun, something like (CZ?) Skorpion or MAC 10, or a full sized Uzi, and put some sort of lanyard on it and hang it from a belt or shoulder rig. Think shotgun under a trench coat but with a kilt.

Wow, I think I just accidentally discovered a legitimate reason to carry a Mare's Leg!!!

I think I'll keep my opinions to myself, but around here if you wear a skirt you best carry something. Pick up something at the local gun or drug store for protection.

As a piper, I carry with my standard tuckable design, and a heavy belt. Traditionally, kilt (Filidigh Beag) belts are wider than standard trouser belts, so it's easy.

But since we're talking about concealed weapons and kilts, I have to tell you a story. Christmas of '80 the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders visited Korea. They had Christmas dinner at the Commanding General's Mess at Camp Casey, each of them with an officer escort.

So there I was in all me glory, wid' me Irish saffron kilts, piping them across the stone bridge.

During dinner, one of my friends beckoned me over. "She wants to know what you wear under the kilts."

"Well, I'll tell ya, me darlin'. Th' barbarous Scots wear nothin' atall undere th' kilts. Sure and we Irish are more civilized. We wear th' same t'ing, but we tie a knot in it to keep it from dhraggin' th' ground."

Interesting thread. I never thought about "kilt-carry" because I'm Norwegian.

The photo on the right in post #4 is the best part so far. I vote for more of that line of reasoning.

as far as women complaining about having no convenient CCW options, I know a few girls that keep a strap in their garter under the skirt. wouldn't do it with the kilt myself, but the under the arm holster works well day-to-day, but nothing beats sporran-carry so far...

The Filidgh Beag is no different from trousers when it comes to concealed carry. Do you carry OWB with a jacket for a cover garment? Thread you holster on your kilt belt and put on a jacket.

Do you carry IWB with a cover garment? Slide your holster between the kilt and shirt, and snap to your belt.

Do you carry a tuckable? Slide your holster between the kilt and shirt, snap to the belt, and tuck your shirt.

The only folks I have known to wear kilts were Celtic creative anarchronists practicing Scottish martial arts; after seeing what they do to each other with padded weapons:what:, I would not insult their mode of attire.

I'd think open carry wouldn't even be noticed by 1/2 the population. The women would be more interested in the age-old men's question..... "Ya spose she/he is wearin' undergarments?"

The only people I've ever seen "kilt carrying" were a couple of guys at a bowling alley in town.
They were serious mall-ninjas, and the sag on their right hips, along with the shirt bulge, was a dead give away.

yea, that holster thong device? no thanks, maybe you're just trying to submit helpfully but the whole thing about a kilted man is that he can't abide having uncomfortable "junk" that's our credo, really...

If you were to take your average Scots Blue Bonnet or Irish Gallowglass by the ankles, hold him upside down, and shake him, it would rain sceans, claidh beags, pistols and other assorted pieces of iron for half an hour.:D
