CDNN: Best deal in the house.

Got it today, got it assembled. Very nice rifle. Still unsure if i'll keep it, or just stick with my Savage 10fp in 308. Any real reason to keep two 308 bolt actions..? Only real difference is 24inch barrel length vs 20inch.

Here's a couple of horrible, low quality shots. Just moved and my good camera is packed somewhere, and I couldn't find a bipod. But anyway, here you go.

These are a great deal. I have built several for customers, and installed my bottom metal in them. The action is exactly the same as winchester Mod 70 and it will fit in any stock inletted for Mod 70. The Bottom metal inlet will be different, though. This is easily remedied.

The best option is to get a Manners stock.

The screws should be torqued to 65 Inch Pounds with a torque wrench.

Screws are in fact 1/4-32 and B-square makes em. You dont need them tho, they all come with factory screws.

My Bottom metal works with these rifles perfectly, so for less that 1000, you can have a high speed low drag rig that uses AICS magazines. Were making these mags in the US now so they're better and cheaper/More readily available.

Do you really save that much money ordering from CDNN when you have to send to an FFL & pay the transfer fee??

Not just this deal but others as well, I find it much easier to buy through my local shops.

Only about $700 on this rifle. So no, not much at all, no. :)

/////mine didn't cost $700.00 it was $522.96 shipped and then my FFL didn't charge a transfer fee but even if he had it would have only been $10.00 dollars so i think you do save quite a bit of money.

Re-read your post missunderstood it at first sorry,

Like I said up in response #2 to this thread, I paid about $1200 for my PBR XP last year. It's worth every penny of $1200, so I can't believe you can get one now for $500. This is an insane deal.

I don't believe there is a 300 WSM version. Everything I've seen out there in the way of the FN PBR is .308.

Maybe you're thinking of the FN SPR?

Regarding the screws: Maybe CDIgnition can correct me on this one but these screws appear to be identical to the B-Square screws sold for the Winchester 70. Amirite?

Great info. So we can purchase any model 70 stock and have you modify it for your bottom metal or is that something the novice could do?

Is it possible to easily modify other vendors stock to work with the bottom metal of the PBR as is? I called a few stock manufactures and they said the same as you. The model 70 stock are a no-go due the DBM.

Thanks for the info. YHPM

Shadowangel, Thanks for the photos!

I understand that in this case, but in general, the best dealer to do a tranfer around here is $35.00, some are $65.00 I have to look around to find a better price on the transfer.

And they're out of the $99 Hogue stocks.

THe CDNN rep I spoke to said that they might raise the prices another 100 on top of the 50 raise as they have realized they've been selling them too cheaply.

$449 now?

Still a steal of a deal. I need to get ahold of an LGS that will transfer. The one I normally use is closed today. Ugh.

Where can stocks be had elsewhere?

^^^ Lock, Stock and Barrel can special order a Bell & Carlson for $204. Other than that, see post #80 in this thread.

I'm very curious if any vendor's Win Model 70 stock can be easily modified to work with the detachable box mag of the FN.

Bah, you guys are horrible to me. But good all at the same time.

I ordered one of the 24" versions. Should be in within 4 or 5 days.

When I ordered my 24" one there were only 6 of those left...so 5 or less now.

What stock did you order yours with, if any?

Did they mention another $100 price jump?

Someone at work ordered one today, price increase, he got the last 24".

They have 2 stocks for it now, full length bedding block hogue for 199.
They are out of the $99 stocks right now.

That's good news, now I don't have to decide whether to order one anymore.

So they did increase the price? I wouldn't have ordered one than anyway.
