Could use some knowledgeable help from BPS owners on this fixed choke Browning.
It's an 18 1/4" hunting model made in 1985.

Went on-line searching for choke markings and came up with either IC or modified.
Thanks for any help,

JT

If the stars on the barrel follows Browning choke tube marking then two stars would be Improved Modified.

ETA: Looks like it does not. Looks like that would be Improved Cylinder [**-]. Sorry not much help...

Thanks for the reply mcb.

Yeah, I came up with the same kinds of things too.
The barrel is clearly marked as 18 1/4", and the 'old school' (or just old) part
of me thinks that Browning would not have put the tighter choke on such a short barrel.
But what do I know?

This was an impulse buy, the gun really does not look to be fired (internally) and the price
was to good to pass up.

Measure the inside diameter of the barrel at the muzzle. A cylinder bore is about .730"

Thanks to all for their assistance.

Time to pattern some No.4 buck and see where its hitting.

NO 3" Magnums for me though.
I've fired two rounds in my life and that was one too many.
Had to try one.

Ohh you need to try some 3.5 inch 2.25 oz turkey loads. I have a BPS chambered in the 3.5 inch 12 gauge. They wake you up for sure.
