Interesting article in the Chronicle of Higher Education entitled Legislative Proposals in 9 States Would Allow Guns on Campuses. The link above should work for non-subscribers for a couple of days. Chronicle subscribers can directly access the article here.

In short: "Legislators in nine states, including Florida, Texas, Michigan, and Arizona, are considering laws that would restrict public institutions' ability to have anti-gun policies for their campuses." Good discussion of recent developments in a number of states. The AAUP is, not unexpectedly, opposed to allowing guns on campus. The article further notes that "The U.S. Supreme Court decision, in Heller, maintains that bans in "sensitive places such as schools and government buildings" are constitutional." Thus, there is no certainty that these efforts will be successful.
