Ok, I admit it. I have a soft spot for the old Clint Eastwood's westerns.

Yesterday I was watching the GB&U (original uncut version) and watched the cleaning scene again and said that is a cool looking 38 special revolver.

Hitting the Ipad, I see that Cimarron makes them but they only put the silver inlay on one side of the grip. That is if you want the conversion 38 special version.

If you go to the 45 colt P series you can get both sides of the grip.

Hitting this site, I see that outlawgrips will clone the grip on both sides for about 350 inlaid on a set of grips.

So, first off, does anyone have one of the 38 conversions and while I realize that you have to poke out the casing, is that much of a pain? Also how do they shoot?

Anyone buy the 45 P series and how does it shoot?

I know I won't do this right away or maybe not for a long time but a guys got to think about it a bit.

Yeah, it'd be  to own a pair with the snake inlays...just for grins. :D

I can't help you out much as I don't have one but I do know that on gated conversions without a brass ejector built in it is very easy to use a short wood dowel and kick the spent brass out. To me its not a big deal considering I'm probably not going to be in the middle of a gun battle trying to reload.

Why did you post that? :)

To your question, I have their P series in 4 3/4" and I absolutely love the thing. Beautifully finished with the case hardnening, it has held up very well for several years. I keep a little wax on the metal and it looks like the day I took it out of the box. Probably has had 500 rounds of Blazer 45LC and maybe 100 rounds of my black powder loads in it.

I've got a pair of the MWNN revolvers without the snakes (too cheap to pony up the extra $185 per gun). I've done some action smoothing on them; but they were very shootable out of the box. Pretty much POA at 15 yds. I tried a variety of factory and handloads in them from 158 gr Magtech's, 158 Gr generic gunshow RNFP, BP and Pinacle 158 gr, 125 gr, and 105 gr RNFPs. Settled on a pinnacle load with a 125 gr RNFP to use in CAS matches. The expended cases usually fall out of the cylinder without any prodding. When they dont, the loading lever is in two pieces so you can use the front half to poke the empties out.

Here's mine. Uberti Cattleman 45 Colt paid 300 for it. Snakes on both sides
paid 40 for them on E-bay. Less than 350.00 in the whole thing.

Joe Perkins at Outlaw Grips mounted some silver snakes on some grips of mine.

I have them on the outside of the grips as I like smooth grips against my palm when shooting.

I put these on my cap guns cuz I shoot them way more often than cartridge guns.

Man With No Name Conversions are Great guns for shooting black powder & 38 special case makes for a nice smokey load.

I pop the empties out with a small diameter dowel. It has a loading gate, so it's no big deal.

Well, part of me says go for the 45 and take on another caliber, part says 38 special as that is my favorite conversion.

SIGH.

Better start saving the bucks up!

Thanks guys.

I think that the prices Cimarron is asking for these guns are crazy: $800 for the 51 Navy conversion and almost $900 for the SA.:eek:

All they are is Ubertis with custom grips. You can get both guns for about $1000, then with a little bit of work, you can customize the grips yourself for only another $75-100.

I don't see how Cimarron can justify asking $300+ for those custom grips.

I've got the Man with no Name Navy conversion, and I love it. In fact, I prefer it to any SA I've ever handled. After I shot it a little, the spent casings just fell right out, so an ejector would actually be somewhat pointless. (And really ugly on a 51 if you ask me)

You can always get someone to make a set of snake grips, that's what I did with my Uberti.
