These are the two rescued knives I cleaned up.
The top one is marked Vanco, Indianapolis. Acording to what I can find out Van Camp Hardware made their own knives through a susidiary Capital Cutlery Co. Vancamp got out of the knife business in 1948.
Pretty neat to have a knife made in the year I was born or maybe even before!
As you can see I had to fit a piece of horn to the scale and the blades are about as good as I can get them. It was used hard and sharpened improperly.
Not worth anything on the market and not good enough to put in the collection so it will see duty in my pocket for every day chores. It is sharp, the little rascal "bit" me twice cleaning it up.
The yellow handled stiletto is an Imperial. Reasonable shape, totally useless to me. Too light and fragile to be a whitler so in the drawer it goes.
Thanks for looking.
