I need to order an cleaning rod to clean bolt action rifles and would like to know if there is a best?
There are 3 on sale in the latest Midway flyer. Hoppe's graphite @ $13, Tipton Deluxe carbon fiber @ $23, and Tipton stainless steel @ $17. What is the best rod? And the reason it is the best.

Another vote for Dewey rods; and I'd strongly suggest a bore guide as well. If you're going to invest in a quality rod, get a bore guide to protect it and the chamber as well.

I like the Dewey rods for their tough coating and roller bearing handles; but be advised that they require an 'male' to 'male' adapter to use standard patch holders and brushes as the Dewey rod is 'male'. I think that the Dewey rods come with one though. And you might check out the Parker-Hale style patch jag; they allow for more patch contact surface and seem to scrub out the bore better.

Dewey.

Otherwise, 3 peice sectional Outers brass rod w/bore guide or muzzle protector (field use).

Gonna sort of hijack thread a little what does everyone like for a handgun size Rod only thing i can find is stainless in one piece

Dewey & ProShot one piece rods. I just picked up a new Dewey today and it does come with the adaptor for the threads. It's a good rod but don't loan it to a neophyte or you'll want to replace it. At least it wasn't on my gun. (the things we put up with to bring newer shooters up.)

For handguns I've been using KleenBore's "PocKit" which breaks down and stows in the handle, comes with brass tips & brushes, and a neat little plastic conical bore guide that allows vigorous scrubbing action without worry of the rod coming in contact with the bore. Very helpful on longer barreled revo's that see much lead. Pretty cheap too.
