My father passed on to me a sporterized Mauser '95 chambered in .30-'06.
Good advice on rust removal for sure. I would respectfully add that the 95 was not intended for 06 pressures, so be prudent with it. If you handload, I wouldn't exceed the starting loads by much, and would avoid anything near a max load. I have a nice 91 Argentine in 7.65 Belgian (its real name) that I used to shoot Norma factory loads in until I realized that the pressures were running in the high 50k range I backed off with my handloads & it is truly a tack driver with modest loads. Won a HP Rifle match with it in the late 70s - my open sights beat guys with accurized springfields with peep sights, mud flaps & chrome exhausts (of course, the bbl is 29" so I had a serious advantage being that much closer to the target )... Ticked them off so bad they never gave me the trophy, but I still had the bragging rights and got a lot more mileage digging in their stuff every weekend...
