Cleaning up after shooting Unique?

Universal is a very good powder with a wide range of applications including handguns and shotguns

In light to medium loads, Unique will leave a sooty film on everything, but Universal will leave un-burned flakes.
I don't like un-burned flakes. Unique's soot removes easily with a cotton cloth and synthetic motor oil.

I gave up on Unique many years ago, it is a filthy powder with poor metering but it works. My quest for Unique alternatives lead me to Accurate #5, WSF, VV N340 and BE-86.

Unique is one of my favorite handgun powders! And I use a lot of it in my 357 and 44 mag BHs. It is my “go to” powders when trying out new boolits!

Universal is one I picked up after the last major shortage some years ago (8 lb jug) and it has proven itself in my 357.

I’ve got another half dozen powders I use with less frequency, but love to have on my shelf!
But then I’m an old country boy and ain’t too hard to please! And I only shoot boolits!

Oh, I use G96 spray on the wipe down and good old Hoppes #9 in the cylinder and barrel. Hey I’m old school!
Long live Unique!
