Powder Recommendations for the 9mm and 45ACP target loads?

All the powders mentioned will work, but most require pretty fast speeds to burn properly.

For light "TARGET"/plinking loads, the faster powders will run best for both 9mm and 45ACP.

Win 231/HP-38 and faster will work for your stated needs. Vit n320 will also do it nicely at light-and just into middle range loads.

I load all I want in 9mm and .45acp with Unique and BE, and I could get by fine with just Unique. Both meter well for me and are cheap, consistent, accurate and have tons of load data. I've burned more than 8# of TG and Solo 1k as well in .45acp and 9mm. Lots of Clays, 700x, 800x and a few others, too. Still, BE and Unique.

I shoot mostly home cast.

For 9mm I like WSF and Universal. Unique seems to give consistent groups, though I'd have to readjust my sights for it. I load for handguns on a progressive and Unique is not the best metering powder, though far from the worst. Initial testing with Power Pistol, I find it tends to vertical string for me in both 9mm and 38spl (on separate occassions). It also covered my forearms with soot very quickly, and this with mid level charges - I have no idea why.

My go-to powder for 45acp is WST. It just works and meters very well, no muss, no fuss. 231 works very well too. Bullseye is very accurate for me, as is Unique, but BE meters much better. I clean my guns often enough that I don't necessarliy worry about how dirty a powder may be.
