You are incorrect. Why are so many so hesitant to actually learn something? That's part of the problem in this country, so sad it is found on a forum like this as well.
 
No, you are the one who is incorrect. If you are going to make claims or assertions then the burden is on you to provide the supporting evidence for you claims. It is not up to us to make your arguments for you. It has nothing to do with doing our homework. If you are going to make claims it is entirely up to you to support your own argument. If you fail to do so then your argument will be ignored.
 
I do not give a crap if the uninformed ignore what I say. It's often better that way as unneeded arguments do not arise.

That someone doesn't know the legal bounds of those that rent out property is not my problem, it is there problem. No wonder our 2nd amendment rights keep getting eroded... when people refuse to educate themselves they don't even realize how much they are losing.
 
If only your "go look it up" attitude worked when I was in college. I would have loved to tell my professors and instructors that I had provide them all the information I intended and if they wanted more they'd have to look it up.

If that is the stance you wish to take then it would appear to me that you may not truly know of which you speak. Or at the very least you do not wish to help educate the other members of the forum. Either way, nothing you say from here until the end of time will carry any weight.

Utah law specifically prohibits lease agreements from prohibiting firearms. When I lived in Colorado many years ago at least one of our rental agreements had a section in it prohibiting guns, but it was lined out. When I asked about it they said that it was cheaper than having them reprinted it after their lawyer told them that the restriction was illegal. This was close to 20 years ago, and _boy_ how things have changed.

And Arbo: If you assert something, provide at least a modicum of backing for it. You're wasting time otherwise.

Does this mean anything in english? Seems totally meaningless. Why the need to try and stoke an argument anyway?

I am merely awaiting some sort of link showing that this property management company was told to back down or did back down.
 
This is starting to turn into a bickering fest. Let's cut that out and focus on substance.

And speaking of substance, it appears that the issue raised in the OP was resolved. See post 71:

Actually, he was referring to waiting for someone to post a link to the story about the policy being yanked/retracted/bumped/rubbed-out/nixed or otherwise reversed, not the fact that he's posting assertions and wanting the rest of us to "educate" ourselves on his assertions.

Lot of misconceptions here. I have owned a 4 unit building in Anchorage for 6 years so know a little more than the average person about landlord/renter law. First of all saying a landlord can't have keys is ridiculous. I have a perfect recent example. My building had a boiler fire last Dec so I'm heating all the units with portable electric space heaters. Well a week into this I see a ambulance removing the old renter in #2. He never came back, and unknown to me had changed the locks. Well I absolutely need to get in there to see if those heaters are working or my pipes will freeze. I ended up calling out a locksmith @$150.

To the subject at hand: I cannot enter a renters apt. anytime I wish, [except emergency] but I can with a 24 hour notice. And I can post 24 hour notices every day.
Do I think the landlord can change the rules and evict someone for having guns while they are under a current lease that does not prohibit them? No. The only way I can evict someone under a current lease immediately is if they break the lease[ie non payment of rent, illegal activity,etc.] For example I can't go in mid term to someone whose lease says pets allowed and say get rid of fido. I can however, when that lease expires say no pets.

I think the lesson here is if possible do not rent from mega corporations with HQ 1000 miles away. Stick with local owners renting out a few units[like me] I not only allow guns but encourage them. Just more people to carpool

Problem Solved - Policy reversed

The policy was put in place by the management company - Ross - the property is owned by Douglas County. When the Board of Directors learned of the policy they shut it down.
