They'd be damned fools to reappoint her -- but wait, you said they're Democrats, right?
I had a nightmare last night that the Dems re-appointed her.
Is that a possibility, or was that just something I ate?
Maybe that's why, according to some, they're continuing with gathering petition signatures...?

If such officer shall offer his resignation, it shall be accepted, and the vacancy caused by such resignation, or from any other cause, shall be filled as provided by law; but the person appointed to fill such vacancy shall hold his office only until the person elected at the recall election shall qualify. If such officer shall not resign within five days after the sufficiency of the recall petition shall have been sustained, the governor shall make or cause to be made publication of notice for the holding of such election, and officers charged by law with duties concerning elections shall make all arrangements for such election, and the same shall be conducted, returned and the result thereof declared in all respects as in the case of general elections.
I remember a comment by Ritter when he was running for governor. When asked about his views on the second amendment, he said; "I support Coloradan's right to hunt and fish". That may not verbatim, I read it in the newspaper back then.I can hear it already from the Dem candidates.... "I'm a gun owner, I'm a hunter, I support the Second Amendment."
The MSM were all over the Giron and Morse recalls, until they were successful...This state-specific recall has had national attention, albeit not a great deal. But am I the only one that has not heard much on this in the national media?
As I read this, resignation does not halt the recall process and the appointee can hold office only until another candidate has been elected at the recall election.Resignation Filling Vacancy.

coloradokevin said:This was an "effective recall" in the sense that this was absolutely going to be the outcome no matter what we did. The Democrats always had this "out" available to them by law, and that was known even before Morse and Giron lost their seats. As such, now that the Dems know they're likely to lose such a recall election, there's no way they'd risk losing the senate to do so.
Personally, I consider this a good thing. If this is the mood in Colorado (even in districts that elected Democrats last time) I think it means we have a GREAT chance of taking back the majority in the next election. And, honestly, unless we gain the majority in the house, senate, and governor's office, we have no chance of getting these laws overturned by our legislators (I believe we still retain the option for a voter referendum, and I'm hoping that process starts soon).

... The republican party needs to reach out to the middle people. They already have the people on the right. The people on the right aren't going to leave the GOP because they reach out more to the middle people. They cant leave the GOP because they don't have anywhere else to go.
Let people live their lives in peace as they choose, as well or poorly armed as they choose to be, with whatever partner they choose, doing whatever they choose to do as long as they harm no one and don't violate anyone's rights. Just do that and you'll have my support.
Yes, but in my understanding of CO law, when a politician resigns, the party with which she is affiliated gets to select the replacement. They can keep putting hacks in, and as long as the candidate resigns rather than loses an electionhttp://kdvr.com/2013/11/27/hudak-wi...recall-threat-hold-Democrats-senate-majority/
It's not quite as satisfying as seeing Morse and Giron thrown out in disgrace, but it's still a win in my book.
But they can be forced to continue to burn resources, including people, to try to stay ahead of the recalls. Call it a war of attrition, keeping in mind that they have been out spending the good guys something like 8 to 1.Yes, but in my understanding of CO law, when a politician resigns, the party with which she is affiliated gets to select the replacement. According to filings this recall effort took in about 86k and spent ~48k.But they can be forced to continue to burn resources, including people, to try to stay ahead of the recalls. Call it a war of attrition, keeping in mind that they have been out spending the good guys something like 8 to 1.
Crooked politicians rely on the people having very short memories -- only if we stay mad through a couple of election cycles can we give them what they deserve.Hate to say it, but maybe it's good to keep them at a low boil for now. An election that replaced Hudak with someone who'd support repealing CO's most recent gun control laws may have quenched more anger. As it is, that anger can still smolder and be rekindled in 2014.
