I've had an RO show me something similar, except using spent brass balanced near front sight to help mitigate flinch. Very nice! I can see the coin being more difficult to balance with less surface area contacting the gun.

ive done this for years, i actually herd about it on this site.

its helped my groups with my Sigma quite a lot. i use a quator or 50cent peice on the end of the slide by the front sight. hold on target and squeese the trigger. i learned from there where my finger needs to sit on the trigger to keep it as smooth as i can as well.

now if i do my part i can get all 14rnds into the 8 ring at 21ft firing 1 per second.

lol at keeping your finger off the trigger during dry fire practice. You keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to pull it, which is of course the point of the whole excercise.

anyone can balance a coin and take a picture... look close and you will see in each of the pictures the trigger is pulled slightly... much harder to keep the coin there while the trigger is being pulled... that is the point.. the finger on the trigger in the picture shows that (lacking the super glue idea) he is actually going through with the exercise.... not just throwing a coin on a gun and taking a picture.

Man, tough crowd.

Edit: PT1911 - I think I misunderstood your post. That it didn't count because the hammer wasn't pulled far enough. Apologies. These pics show it a little better.

I wasnt saying that at all..was pointing out that you are actually pulling the trigger, not just setting a coin on a gun and taking a picture.

CUDOS man... that is difficult.

No way I'm I trying that! That nickel could fall and roll underneath the couch and I'd be out a nickel, now wouldn't I?
Seriously, that's pretty slick.

Great video. Kudos to MrBorland!

For those who haven't tried it, the drill is easiest with a dime then gets tougher with larger coins (laying flat).

MB, Thanks for reminding us of a good drill.

Thanks for all your input. It's been a fun exercise.

There's no way. Even if you could hold the gun still enough and even it didn't fall from the trigger being pulled back, as soon as the sear releases the hammer and the hammer hits the firing pin that's going to knock the coin down, no matter how steady you hold the gun.

Yeah, I generally agreed, but not categorically: I managed to meet you halfway with my DAO 686, and am now bold enough to think it might even be possible with my 65 with enough practice. There's not enough time left in the universe to practice enough to be able to do this with a Nagant, though.
