Could I go wrong with a Dead Air Wolfman for my AK-V?

I finally decided on a Dead Air Wolfman to pair with my Palmetto State Armory AK-V 9mm. This will be more first and likely only suppressor.

There's a shop nearby that will walk me through the process. Being a creature of instant gratification, I may only be able make the wait only once.

Any known issue with this suppressor?

Thanks in advance!

The Wolfman is my first, and so far only, suppressor. I can only offer my experience with no relative comparison to other options. I've been very pleased with it.

I've mounted it on a 9mm PCC and an AR pistol. On the 9mm PCC in full configuration with subsonic ammo it brings the noise down to hearing-safe levels. On an AR it takes quite an edge off the noise and reduces flash signature significantly. I still wear ear pro but it's a much more pleasant shooting experience.

The can can handle rifle use but is not intended for FA or heavy duty use if I recall the research correctly. For me, this means running a few mags of 5.56 at the range is fine, but I wouldn't take it to a class and run a case through it in a day.

Their website says it’s FA rated. Is there some indication that you shouldn’t actually be running it FA?
For the record, I’m considering either this or the SilencerCo Hybrid 46 or 46M. Either would be used for both 9mm PCC and 300BLK pistol, and perhaps 5.56. All potentially with binary triggers.

I should have clarified, the Wolfman isn't rated for 5.56. Informally, Todd from DA said on another forum that light duty (2-3 mags, not full auto) shouldn't be a problem.

Since my post, I've gotten a booster assembly. I'm looking forward to trying the Wolfman on a pistol sometime soon!

Why?
Without knowing the planned usage its as silly as recommending a Ford F650 to your grandmother who lives in downtown.
FA cans are A LOT more rugged in construction and yeah a F650 is great for granma when she has to move furniture.
Plus with equipment you get what you pay for if you want a cheap can that will burn out in 2000 rounds by all means get a cheapo and be happy I got equipment I have used for over 40 years some of my pistols predate my kids my oldest is 51 this year if you want advice you need to talk to people who have been in the game longer than some of the posters here have been alive just remember an old man is cunning and treacherous especially if they are up in age.

Yeah, we know that.
Which has nothing to do with usage. A bolt action rifle doesn't need the "more rugged construction" and in fact it would often be the worst choice due to weight.

Automatically replying with "full auto" is just a dumb recommendation without knowing what the host firearm is, as well as whether its for self defense, hunting or plinking.

Sure it is. o_O
Your recommendations on vehicles is on par with your knowledge of silencers.

Well I'll be darned. How nice to get an upside surprise. On the other forum the advice I recall reading a couple years ago when deciding on the purchase was that some 5.56 was fine, but that I ought not run the can as hard as I might if I took it to a class and went through a case of ammo in a day or two.

Well lets see his courtroom testimony as the (expert witness)
One doesn't need courtroom testimony or to be an expert witness, but just a smidge of common sense to know that "full auto rated" is not a necessity on all silencers.
That's not just my opinion, but that of every silencer manufacturer in the world. Just think for a second, if possible, about what makes a silencer "full auto rated". ;)

"Full auto rated" may meet your needs, but for someone looking for precision, the additional weight isn't a plus but a negative. Now ask yourself why silencer manufacturers make and sell tens of thousands of silencers that ARE NOT "full auto rated".

YHM is the leader in affordable, quality sound suppression. We offer models for a variety of firearms in a selection of materials from Steel to Titanium to Inconel, all at affordable prices. Every Q.D. suppressor includes the Q.D. mount in the price of the suppressor. There are no "hidden" costs. Every sound suppressor YHM manufactures is full-auto rated and warranted for life from defects in material and workmanship. Read it and weep expert.

While this is turning out to be an interesting commentary on the state of forums and the risks of assumptions, I am not sure it refutes the idea that everyone should get only F/A rated cans. Lots of customers opt to not, for various criteria trade offs.

That said, if we're talking about 9mm cans and shooting 9mm F/A, it's frankly hard to make a 9mm can that isn't F/A rated for 9mm.

Mine is in jail, but when I get it I'll let you know how it performs on the SP5.
