Cowboy Movie Guns

I figured it had to be something like jigged bone, it would be almost physically impossible for
a stag to grow grips into a perfect plow handle configuration. They still look great, even if they
aren't authentic Stag Horn, thru and thru.

A minor point, but stag is antler, not horn. Horn is stuff like your fingernails are made of. Antler is sort of dried blood and calcium, more akin to bone.

This is antler, from American Elk:

Very cool! I was also hoping to see Clint's 1858 from Pale rider in there, complete with gunbelt holding extra cylinders.

Very sweet! I'm planning a trip that could take me through Cody Wyoming. Think I'm going to stop into the firearms museum there.

I'm not a huge western fan, but the remake of 3:10 to Yuma was an awesome flick IMO and I found myself ogling pretty much every gun in it.

Glad you had fun!

Much better than the remake of True Grit... you just cant replace the stars in that original cast.

It's well worth the time. My wife and I spent a few days in Cody celebrating our anniversary one year...I don't remember which anniversary it was.
Anyway, while we were in Cody, there was a huge gunshow. It put every gunshow I've ever been to around here to shame.
Depending on the time of year I suppose, Cody also has one of those cowboy shootouts in the street every afternoon. It's one of the better of those types of shows I've ever seen too.
If your upcoming trip takes you through Ogden, Utah, I also highly recommend the J.M. Browning museum. It's right next to the railroad museum...kinda adjoined to it, I think. It's pretty amazing too.

Cody is a cool town. I spent a day there about ten years ago, but did not have time to stop into the Western Heritage Museum. That short time was time enough for me to decide I could live there if the right job came along.

I don't do cowboy reenactments though. They do those in the next town over from me. A few years ago one of the actors had a breakdown and wounded a bunch of people when he used real ammo.

The browning museum is something I plan on doing. One of my best friends lives in Ogden, and the next time I visit, I want to take the time.

I visited Cody, on our Great American Road Trip. Would have LOVED to have seen that gun show.
Instead, I was doing my best imitation of a cat on a hot tin roof, at Mount Rushmore, with a 25 foot
trailer in tow, during the Sturgis Run, that year. Found a great little Trailer Camp a few miles south of Cody,
and we enjoyed the fishing for a few days.

As I recall, the Cody Museum has some Colts from the Bonanza show. Then, there is the "Have Gun Will Travel" Paladin Colt and holster. There are more, but I don't recall those.

The quintessential Hollywood SA revolver was Great Wrstern Arms. They are uncommon and good sample in excellent condition will usually set one back $1000 or more.
