I have a Crosman 357 that I have been shooting a lot and really enjoy.

Been looking at the Umarex 586 in a 6" barrel. Price is around $250.00

I paid $49.00 for the Crosman 357 and have shot it for the last 3 years without any problems. I have around 30 tins of Crosman hollow points through it. Which to me is really good service for the $ I paid for the pistol.

Do you think the Umarex 586 will be $200.00 better for someone who will put 5,000 pellets a year through it? Is the 586 much more accurate than the 357?

Any comments from 586 or 686 owners would be appreciated.

I don't know if its $200.00 "better" than the Crossman. One thing the S&W Unerex 586 has going for it is that it has the heft and feel of the 617 and 586 / 686 pistols. There aren't any pellet guns out there that are like that. If you wanted to train with a similar pistol to the 617, the Umarex 586 6" would be a great option.

Might look like it, but it's real accurate. Who cares what it looks like, it's a pellet gun, and a semi target one at that, most target pellet pistols are not in the race for beauty.
