Literally got this a couple of hours ago CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel 24" barrel had a Vo4tex Diamondback 4-12 40 mm using CZ rings mounted, the wood on this rifle is very handsome, now if the weather will cooperate off to the range. Have a supply of Remington 120 gr factory ammo ready to go. Wish I could post pics on this rifle.

Be advised that many CZ’s either need the barrel really well cleaned before shooting, or may take 50-100 rounds to settle in. My 527 was shooting 5 - 6” groups when new. Took over 50 to get it shooting well. Now it’s sub 1” easily

This is more a range toy more of an impulse buy traded a Ruger M77 MK II and S&W 1911 got nearly $1200 for the 2. I have other 1911s from S&W and 2 CZ 527s in 7.62x39 so I figured trade them. After alls said and done got the rifle, scope and $250 in store credit.

I enjoy mine when weather lets me shoot. Too much rain this year so far 35" so the range I use will be soaked. I started with the 6.5 Grendel by buying a Alexander Arms Overwatch upper for an AR 15, then building a couple of more. Finally found a CZ 527, put a Leupold 3.5-10 VX3i (i think) on it. I have so many Leupold scopes I cannot really remember what is on what. I started with the caliber when brass and loaded ammo was very scarce and expensive, so got a large quantity of IMI 7.62x39 brass, sized it down, loaded and fireformed a lot of brass. Fireforming loads functioned fine through the AR, so they were fun, although not the most accurate.

I have two 527’s in Grendel. I put one on together with a receiver and Lothar Walther barrel. That project took over a year. In the meantime CZ released the American in Grendel so I got one. The one I put together outshoots the American, probably because I bedded it. Both are fun rifles and I’ve taken several deer with the cartridge.

A)most temped to get a synthetic stock for this rifle would hate to scratch the wood stock.

Overwhelming weakness of the CZ527 is the stock. Once you look at it, you never want to do anything that might scratch or damage the stock in any way. Take it to hunt, can't do that it might rain. Take to the range, nope, the concrete shooting stand might scratch something.

If I want a synthetic stock, I’d buy it that way up front. I can’t see buying a $500 rifle and putting a $400 stock on it to have a $500 rifle. YMMV.

I had an 870 that had been hunted in all kinds of snow and rain. I killed probably 50ish deer with it over the years. Looked close to new when I sold it.

I fail to understand the logic of someone that buys a $500 to hit a price point, then spends another $400 on it to “improve” it. You end up with a Frankengun that’s worth less than when you started.

Again....YMMV. Maybe you’re getting exactly what you want, but with the 87 bazillion options, brands, and models there’s gotta be something that fits your needs, unless you’re fixated on a specific brand

This was no $500 rifle, between the scope and rifle closer to a grand and I'm pretty sure the 527 is a wood only rifle.

Just checked there's a synthetic stock version but it has an 18.5 inch barrel threaded for a suppressor. Threaded barrels are illegal in Ma,would have to have the thread protector pin/welded.

Hey....I love my CZ’s. I just personally can’t see buying a gun to hit a price point, then spend that much more to change it.

But, if that’s what turns your crank, have at it. It’s your money. You don’t have to make me happy

As noted there ARE synthetics available. They are used on the suppressor ready, and an option on carbine 527s.
The longer American only comes in Walnut...or....cant remember the other wood.

Your right on cost. My rig is about 1100 as it stands, the rifle cost me 740 from buds a year or so ago.

There really arnt many options for Mini actions atm. You really the only got the 527 and the Howa mini, each with fairly limited options.
If you want something specific you have to modify it.....and well modifying stuff is fun, heh ive spent a few hours tinkering with my Christensen Ridgeline, and put a 17 dollar bolt handle on a 2300 dollar rifle. Ive also put a 100 dollar trigger guard, and a 22" barrel on a marlin 795......sooo, I might just be broken.

Im certainly not against looking for and buying exactly what you want either. Most of the time if you can find what you want, it will be cheaper than building it.....but not nearly as fun.

Hope I'm not repeating myself here,I posted a while back that I had a Howa in 6.5 grendel order and sent to my favorite FFL,that was just before the mass insanity started and the govenodr shut down the state.
The governor and our AG are being sued to open the gun shops per Fed guildlines, hopefully we'll get relief before May 4th the next proposed date the state opens for business.

I have a couple 527s and using the CZ rings the scopes seem to sit high for me...still shootable but not as comfortable as I would like.... both are tack drivers....great shooting guns out of the box.... and both came with sexy wood.
