CZ 527

I bought a Boyd's stock for mine. It was very affordable and importantly, adjustable so that my kids could use it with a proper fit. It's butt-ugly, and therefore has none of the mentioned "problems" of the factory stock. The factory stock is beautiful and traditional looking, but the comb is not high enough for a scope and the Grendel version does not come with irons. The Boyd's stock had an adjustable comb that works fine for a scope, but again, looks ugly. The 527 has less drop at the heel than traditional rifles, but there isn't a production bolt-action rifle made today that doesn't. For a Grendel-chambered rifle, that's fine since I'm unlikely to be shooting it off-hand.

The only real issue I have with the 527 is the inability to practically single-load cartridges. I had a lot of good experience with a Mauser and a Mdl 70 and so I was determined to get the mauser-style action in lieu of the Howa's push-feed. I don't regret that part, but unlike the M98 and the Mdl 70, the 527 has a DBM that makes it impractical to load the magazine without detaching it first.

I bought a 527 in 6.5 Grendel last December, it’s been excellent.

Got the ‘rustic’ stock – saved $100 over the walnut stock and not worried about banging it up.

Went to the range yesterday and 3 problems arose, first the store mounted the scope incorrectly, rotated the scope 90 degrees that problem solved, they didn't tighten the base screws one was only hand tight corrected those problems easily. Now the biggest bugaboo the magazine, rounds just would not feed. Rounds fed one at a time no problem. Did some poking around on that problem and seems to be a case of taking the action out of the stock and fiddling with the fit of the bottom metal/trigger guard. We'll see if that solves the problem.
I am going to replace the CZ rings with picatinny tail and weaver style rings with torx screws won't have to worry about mangling screw slots with those.

I have several 527s.....both shoot really well...stock hight sucks and CZ rings put scope too high to be comfortable....shootable but not comfortable....

...out of box accuracy I guess offsets the high ring issue....

Highlander, Look in the manual at fig 3. If I don't load as shown my 5.56 won't feed.
I have 2 other 527 both 7.62x39 no problems feeding from the mag. Bolt feels like it's hitting the back of tht mag. Should note ammo used was R-P 120 hpbt. I did remount the scope using a picatinny rail designed for the 527. Put 5he scope rings on scope just snug enough to hold scope, placed the whole thing on my kitchen table and used a torpedo level to get the cross hairs straight and don't laugh it worked.
