CZ 75 questions

Have a couple of CZ's.
IMHO, the grip shape isn't for everyone but, if it does fit you, the ergos are 2nd to none.

My P-01 is in my CC rotation (competing with a S&W 6906)

Just for S&G's, I put the P-01 slide on the frame of my "Tactical" green full size 75 frame.

Straight out of the box, I love CZ handguns. Adding some Cajun Gun Works (CGW) parts make them even more outstanding. I have, at minimum, CGW's Ultra-Lite kit in all of mine. Here's a photo with some different models side by side to show the similarities, relative sizes, and minor differences.
L - R Top Row: PCR, 85 Combat (with a lot of CGW parts), P-01 with Crimson Trace CMR 206
Middle: Two Kadet Kit .22 LR conversions that work on all of these except the 97B
L - R Bottom Row: 97 B (I really love this gun), 75 B Stainless, SP-01 Tactical (de-cocker) with Crimson Trace CMR-203

My only "CZ 75" is my SAR B6C (compact). Haven't had the opportunity to get it to the range yet but even so I'm impressed with the quality. I may pick up the full sized B6 or 2000 later unless I can find a great deal on a CZ.

I have a CZ75 compact, all steel, no rail. I'm not a grip snob, but mine feels like it was fit just for me. It's pretty accurate too, maybe the added weight helps.
That’s the model I just bought. Picked it up today.
It is a lot different than my Tupperware guns, but feels good in the hand like the Rugers & Kahrs.
seems to be of nice quality.

That’s my “I’m not going to work today” gun. Same one. Steel frame, carried cocked and locked. No mods on this one other than tritium/fiber optic sights. As others have mentioned, once you get one, you end up with more. I’ve got a CZ-82 (worlds better than the rest of the Maks, although a little snappy), and an 85 that I put a Cajun SA only trigger in for USPSA limited. I also drilled/tapped the frame for a gas pedal, glued grit to the frame for grip, and changed the front sight to a fiber optic. It’s smaller grip makes it a better fit for me than the Czechmate or the Tanfoglio models. I also like the copies (not quite clones) from Tanfoglio and the clones of the copies from Sarsilmaz. The steel frame Sar K2 .45 is (in my mind) certainly better than the CZ-97 if you are looking for a .45. Probably same with a Tanfo. The Tanfoglios are based on the larger frame, but I keep hearing rumors that the small frame Tanfoglios are coming back. Build quality may be hit-or-miss with Tanfoglios from eons past, but all the samples I’ve had have matched or surpassed the CZ models I have. Brian Enos’ (I think it’s okay to mention that) forum has some good resources for turning a CZ combat pistol into an Open gun. I haven’t found a plastic-frame version that I liked, but if you never use the safety (I carry cocked and locked, remember) you will probably be fine.

The manufacturing process (casting) allows for shapes that would have been expensive to machine once upon a time. When I got my first one (the compact), I held a S&W M&P as well, which is what I expected to walk away with (cheaper by a good margin). Once I had that CZ in my hands, the S&W didn’t get a second look.

It’s a well-designed, accurate, reliable pistol. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you never are required to use it.

I’ll be on the lookout for another 75 Compact with the aluminum frame, as I usually like to have at least three of a similar model. Have three sons & two grandsons that like to see them as Christmas & birthday gifts.

They are the darlings of the internet. I had a couple back in the 1990's when they were dirt cheap compared to most other guns. It was primarily the price that I found attractive, but after a few years I got out of the CZ game. The triggers were heavy and gritty, but despite that they did shoot very well.

For a time CZ sold some guns with poorly made springs, and mine were made during that time. After replacing all the gun and magazine springs they weren't that cheap anymore. Granted that issue has been corrected, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Both of mine had beavertails that curved DOWN and during recoil would dig into the web of my hand between the thumb and trigger finger. SOME current CZ's have corrected this, some still have the same design. That problem can be worked around if you choose the right model.

The deciding factor for me is the slide inside the frame and tiny ejection port. I couldn't see where it had any advantages, but a couple of disadvantages. Operating the slide was much more difficult than other guns with the more traditional slide outside the frame.

At the end of the day they are a just another decent option out of lots of other decent options if the design works for you. I think most people like them just because they are different. For a long time, they were highly sought after simply because they were unobtainable. Not necessarily because they were better. The basic design is about 50 years old, designed at the same time as the Beretta 92. I think for serious work there are better options.

It’s hard to go wrong with a CZ! I have an SP-01 and a P-01 Omega (and a CZ 97BD). The triggers aren’t great, but they can be fixed. There’s just something about the feel of a solid CZ in my hand that’s hard to beat!

The one down side is getting use to the slide being inside the frame. Takes a bit more finesse to track the slide. I have 3 75 series guns and they're all great shooters

i really like the way the pcr fits my hand. i upgraded my sights to tfx pro. the sight picture that works after is shoot the dot.

Never had a firing pin issue with a pretty hefty helping of CZ pistols over the years, nor a roll pin break, nor a slide lock break, nada. Worst problem I ever had with a CZ pistol was the CZ-100, and nothing could cure THAT problem. It was just terrible all over.
