Thanks for the suggestion.

First range report: 124gr FMJ AE factory around 250rds
1) Recoil is markedly less in the CZ due to its weight.
2) 25ft and 50ft produced clear tight groupings, just like the 92A1 and Px4; with a slight advantage over the other 2 guns at 25ft.

Overall, happy with the gun.

Over weight for IDPA ?

With the OEM mag, the gun weighed 2 lb 9 oz (i.e. 41oz). That rules out competing in SSP except ESP.

I'm not sure if putting it on diet and changing the mag to a 10rd mag would help shave the weight to under 39oz.
If that does not, perhaps changing to grip to wood may help.

Any other thots?

I carried a 92 series pistol as a duty gun for 7 years and never had a single problem. I have larger than average hands so for me the Beretta wins hands down. I would change 2 things. 1. A steel guide and 2. A D model mainspring. that's it.

I'm not sure that you're allowed to use the SP-01 in ESP (due to the full-length dust cover).

I know people have made weight for SSP with the SP-01 Shadow, but it's not the easiest thing to do. VZ grips, ensuring you use the plastic guide rod, smaller mags, possibly different baseplates, etc. can all help. I heard some people used a different mag brake or even a small safety to shave off some weight.

Art, I thought you said " if you could only have one". Because I would have said that life is not complete without both. In the CZ's I think that the "creep" gives more of a "surprise" when the hammer drops. thus helping with accuracy. But I see why some would like to reduce/eliminate it.
