Dang. I'm Depressed

I'm satisfied with the guns I presently own. I enjoy shooting what I have, don't really want to add anything to my current inventory.

Do I have to surrender my guy card??
I thought I was satisfied with what I had also. Never had trouble with any of them, accurate and a pleasure to shoot, all of them.

Shoot have left well enough alone. I was batting at 100%.

Bought a new PDP SD PRO Walther 5 days ago.
Had the high precision trigger which is what I was after.
Jams up on last two rounds of every full magazine, ran 250 rounds through it with no change.
And the 3.8 lb trigger breaks at 5 lbs.
Went back to Walther the next day.
I've been really lucky though, first bad one so far.

So I am in the same position. I have maybe 30 handguns, 4 of them auto loaders. I have four shotguns, two rifles, and two rimfire rifles. Do I need more?

I have been there many times. Mainly a trap shooter and deer hunter, I find my 870 TB and my Savage 220 are perfect for all my needs. So, why do I have six other 870s, three rifled 870 and 1100 barrels and three straight wall single shots from 357 to 45-70? And why do I frequent the shops weekly, knowing the dozens of safe queens will remain so?
Confession: I truly am losing interest. Age related depression. Age related mobility issues. I'm still going to shoot the club championship match this Sunday. Mainly because I'm second high for the season and it would be nice to show the kids that an almost 80 year old can compete. But, the desire is weakening. Not quitting but having trouble getting fired up.
I guess I need a new gun to sit in the safe with my 1100 traps, my BT99 and my 3200.
Thank God I can still walk, hold my grandkids and wife. The rest is bonus.

Nothing wrong with that. Itā€™s a matter of personal choice. Iā€™ve been involved with the shooting sports for better than 60 years. My interest in acquisitions is pretty well limited. That said I still find it hard to pass up a smoking hot deal.

Youā€™ve achieved the goal. Youā€™ve got everything you want. Iā€™m jealous. Iā€™m mostly there but once in awhile something comes across my path that I canā€™t say no to, or I suddenly remember that once upon a time I thought it would be fun to try a given gun.

Thereā€™s always a gun that does something better than your current one. Maybe not objectively better in all ways, but better in one or two specific ways. I have most of the guns I want, but thereā€™s definitely an ā€œextended listā€ ā€¦but Iā€™m also prone to collect. For those who tend to be strictly shooters, it would be easier to own everything you might possibly shoot.

Well maybe, maybe not. Each of us collects guns for different reasons. I am personally more into the "I don't have one in that caliber so I need one" mode. So for me it is more about being different.

Are you really satisfied with what you have, or are you down to you have what you want ā€that a normal human could afford?ā€

Thats the boat Im in. Thereā€™s plenty I want, but Iā€™m not paying it.

A reasonable question.

Yes, I am really satisfied with my present accumulation. Most of my enjoyment is the shooting, not the owning or looking at them. I could make a list of firearms that appeal to me, but I don't pursue purchasing them because I would rarely if ever get to shoot them. Example: a Shiloh Sharps. Beautiful and accurate, but I see no point in making that investment since I don't have access to a long distance range to enjoy its capabilities. I can throw 3 or 4 of my old S&Ws in my range bag and be shooting them in 15 minutes at the indoor range where I am a member.

There's a gunshow in 10 days...I'll test myself there!

I got over it by buying 4 of these, one for everyone in the family. At that price they cost as much as 1 gun. We go to the range with a box of clay pigeons and a brick of .22(pigeons $10 brick of .22 $67 from walmart). Set the pigeons on the 25 yard berm and spend hours shooting them then we shoot the pieces left over.

Was almost enticed into acquiring a CZ 75 PRC Compact 9mm, but then found a great deal on .380 ACP for the Bersa FireStorm.

There is always Ammo to keep your card in force.

I think a 10mm Delta Elite might be good for deer.
But then I'd retire my old Python.
And I haven't taken it deer hunting for several years.
Seems silly to want a different deer gun.

Hunting season is only starting. And when is your Birthday, Anniversary or what is she planning for Christmas?
When my wife broke her sewing machine during Covid in 2020 and found out it wouldn't be repaired for 1 1/2 years due to parts
availability, the first thing I did was get quotes on a new machine. We all know a sewing machine to a home bound seamstress is the same as a
Perazzi to a trap shooter. And my wife knew that her selection of a new machine would ultimately qualify for a equally new item in my man cave of my choosing.
