What’s the difference between a Glock 17 magazine and a Glock 19x magazine?

Are they interchangeable?

I don’t have a 19X, so not sure how I ended up with some 19x mags. I have a G17 and a G45. Will the 19X magazines work in either?

They’ll interchange and work in all 3 guns. The follower color is black on the 19x and will be orange on the 45 and latest generation of the 17.

There is an exception to this. A G19X will NOT accept Gen 5 G17 magazines due to the Gen 5 floor plates sticking out more in the front. The easy fix for using Gen 5 mags in the G19X is to swap the G5 floor plate out for a Gen 3/4 floor plate.

For the OP, yes a G19X magazine will work in any generation G17 frame. The G19X magazines use the same (shorter) floor plate as all Gen 1-4 magazines.

As noted G19x uses Gen 4 baseplates and will run Gen 3 or 4 mags fine, but has issues with Gen 5 mags (which is easily solved by new baseplates)

Also it’s been reported that Magpul mags may not drop free with empty mags with a 19x, mine worked fine however
