This is not referring to places you HAVE to go such as work, hospital or govt buildings, rather places you voluntarily go. I'm also not referring to places you can get into but that have signs. I'm talking metal detectors/security or other countries.

For me, outside of the above I don't go anywhere I can't carry. Its not just being prepared and the ability to defend myself, its a God given and Constitutional right. If you try to deny me that then I won't be visiting your county, city, state or country.

Let's keep this civilized as I could see this getting shut down ricky ticky if folks don't behave themselves.

I spent the first half of my life legally unable to carry a gun in public, and while I feel more secure with one I refuse to let a gun rule my life. There’s virtually no other country that will allow me to bring my gun but I still want to travel and therefore must obey their rules. There’s no such thing as a Constitutional right outside the borders of the USA.

Oddly enough I’m much less charitable about those US states that forbid carry than I am foreign countries. To be able to let your people be armed and voluntarily choose not to is not something I want to reward.

I go everywhere I always have before Illinois had a carry provision. So I've spent most of my adult life not carrying at all. But having been a lifetime student of the martial arts, and later instructor of the unarmed fighting arts I've always felt like Bruce Lee... and I've gotten away with it. Haven't lost a fight since I was 15, and that was a draw. So I don't feel unarmed when I'm not carrying. YMMV

California. As far as I know, it's impossible for a non-resident to get a concealed carry license, and the only exceptions are under LEOSA. This is a blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment and something needs to be done about it. Until then, I do not carry in California in violation of any of its unjust laws. I visit California regularly at least once a week.

I avoid the post office. I'd rather pay more for UPS.

I haven't traveled internationally since 2019, but I'm anticipating traveling in Europe and Asia to visit my subjugated fellow humans.

Most of the local places like post office and bank the wife takes care of.

I can’t carry at work.

Only other place I go outside of the CONUS is Ireland and Scotland. I’m willing to make the exception for those two.

No But

But I don't go places like that anyway.

It's not even that I avoid places like that. There just aren't any places like that in my life.

Whether or not I can carry a gun in a given location is never the deciding factor whether or not I go there.

or other countries.

I have no business that would take me outside of the United States.

Yeah, my personal refusal to go into non-permissive environments won't change a thing. I like live music, live sporting events, foreign travel, and even occasionally go into establishments that serve alcohol. And, now that I'm just another old retired dude, I cannot sally forth armed in places in which I was previously authorized to do so. Now, if it's simply a business that indicates it doesn't want legally-armed citizens to enter -- screw them, they won't get my business. Ever. And I'll attempt to let them know why my business will go elsewhere. But as far as observing state and federal laws, alas, I will grudgingly do so, lest I be that guy who never leaves his own property.

But we all must remember that firearms are not one's sole means of self-defense.

It's not legal to carry at work (multiple laws would be broken), so yeah, every workday...

Ditto. It's pretty ridiculous. No firearms allowed, even in my car in the parking lot, so I have to be unarmed on the way to work, and on the way home. Any stops in between? I am required to be disarmed.

Yes, I go places where carry is forbidden and I carry anyway. On the rare occasion that there are metal detects, I'll either bypass them if I feel like it's worth the hassle, or I'll just leave my gun in my car.

No and to elaborate:
I don't watch or care about sports, so I'm missing nothing of interest by not going to ballgames.
Concert? Last time I went was in the 1980's. Crowds and loud aint my thing.
Airplane? Last time was in the 1980's. We drove for vacations and now live where we use to vacation, I can walk to the beach. Also, I boarded dogs once in the past and it made me feel terrible; I'd rather not go on vacation than board my (our) dogs, so dogs always went with us.
Universal / Disney? Been several times before metal detectors, the rides make me sick. I'm on rides with my eyes shut praying to Jesus but he can't hear you from inside Harry Potter. :barf: Its not fun to ride a couple rides then be nauseous the rest of the day. My wife still goes to Universal with our boys who are now 18/19 and I stay home with the dogs; they use the money saved from my ticket to get fast passes. Win-win, I'm not sick and they stand in line less.

That said, I spent years as a teacher in KY where carry was a felony, so I didn't carry. Thankfully, I'm not encumbered by work now.

Avoiding metal detectors is not keeping me from doing anything I'm interested in doing.

Alabama changed the law a few years back, I can now legally have a gun in my car at work, but that is where it stays during the day.

I don't get all bent about places where it's not legal to carry, do what I can at the voting booth and live within the law.

I can relate. I have no interest in going to sporting events. I think the last concert I attended was Alice Cooper in '72, now I want nothing to do with crowded venues. I was on an airplane once in my life and that was many years ago for work.

I would not willingly go somewhere that restricted my constitutional rights.
