That said, I spent years as a teacher in KY where carry was a felony, so I didn't carry.

I was a teacher in KY as well. I won’t elaborate but there was one ‘kid’ who scared me enough that I kept a big pair of stabby metal scissors in my pocket for the rest of the school year. Had the option existed to have a gun I certainly would have carried one.

He’s in prison for attempted murder now.

So, I guess we'd have been okay wearing our guns inside the terminal.
You would be correct about that. You can legally carry in any unsecured areas of the airport.
I really don't know about Costco. My wife and I go there too sometimes, and it seems like I remember someone here on THR saying Costco forbids carry in their stores. We've never seen any signs on the doors though, so we carry (discreetly) there anyway. I guess if Costco figures out we're carrying in their store and don't like it, they can cancel our membership. That wouldn't break my heart. ;)
No guns signs do not have force of law here in Idaho, so even if they did have signs, you could legally continue doing what you have been.

Mine is a qualified no. I try to avoid traveling to states where I can't carry. And in Utah, we can carry most places. So, as a general rule, I plan my life around only going places where I can carry.

But for example, a couple of months ago, I flew my kid to a concert in Seattle, (Washington honors Utah's permit,) and I had to weigh the costs and benefits. I would have had to pay for a checked bag for a 36 hour trip, which just would have been silly. I am unfamiliar with the city, I don't know how many places I would encounter that would search me and turn me away. I knew the concert venue would, and as it turns out, there are metal detectors at the Space Needle. So if I had taken it with me, I wouldn't even have had a place to conveniently take it on and off at the airport. I would have just left it in the hotel room.

What's the point?

Not very often. I go years at a time without entering postal property. I also don't frequent bars, but do regularly hang out in the "dining" area of a place that has a bar. I carry there ("bars" are off-limits in Florida, but places that have them are not if one refrains from being in the "bar" section.)

My wife and I used to frequent nightclubs, also no-gun places by law.

I attend the occasional school-related event now and then, as my wife is a teacher and my daughter a student.

It's probably once a year I find myself doffing my weapon(s) to voluntarily be in a place in which they are prohibited by law. As far as being "not permitted" by private proprietors, well, my carry method is concealed. ;)

I did attend a baseball game last year (minor league) at which my daughter's gymnastics troupe was to perform. Sporting venues are not GFZs by law, but by policy, and security wanding was in place, attended by uniformed LEOs as well. I saw it as I walked up, and returned to my truck to "metal down."

Overseas - is there any place an American can carry outside of being Mitch Rapp?
You can hunt in a lot of countries. However, I dont know of any that would let you CCW a handgun. Given the import/export, permits, etc. required to travel international with a gun, I am not sure how feasable it would be to try.(???)

The sign is on the side of the entrance. If you look for it, it will be there as it is a corporate-wide policy. Their forbidding does not make ignoring the signs criminal as the signs do not have the force of law in most states.

As a rule, I priortize lawful responsibilities over signs calling for negligent behavior that do not have the force of law.

You should be aware of the case where someone was shot dead after carrying in Costco: Erik Scott. It's a bizarre case. The accounts of Scott's behavior according his shooters appear to justify the shooting, but offer no explanation of why he would act according to their accounts. Claims by Scott's side should be cause for concern if they are to be believed. It doesn't help that the security cameras mysteriously failed.

At least two of my former middle school students are still in prison for murder…… I’ve been retired for 26 years.

I carry everywhere, regardless of signs saying not to.
Only 3 exceptions:
Secure government buildings
Pro sports events
Airports
All 3 of those places generally have security covered.

Wait your post office has metal detectors?
I mean I know carry is banned in post offices but the OP specificity said
I just answered the top-line question. <shrug>

My post office actually doesn't even have a "no weapons allowed" sign, only a sign warning that armed robbery of a postal employee is a felony. (Or something like that.) But I know it's illegal. If I'm ONLY going to the post office I leave the gun home and don't worry about it, it's only 2 miles from my house. I do hate when the post office is one of a series of errands, lived too long in L.A. to leave my $1K gun in the car, so I also leave it home then.

To all who posted something along the lines of you're not necessarily unarmed just because you don't have a gun with you:
I vastly prefer carrying, but for years I lived in L.A. where my main weapon had to be my brain... and thank G-d I survived. I remind myself of that when I have to go somewhere gunless now. That said, I do also wear my ARK knife everywhere except doctor visits where I will have to undress or be x-rayed etc. Even here in AZ I don't want to get into a conversation about it.

Lol mine actually doesn’t have a sign either the only reason I know it’s not allowed is it is mentioned in the concealed carry course for where I live.

I bet it does. If it doesn't have one on the door but if you walk in the door there's a bulletin board posted somewhere right near that door and there's a memo on it with a gun Buster sign it says you can't have a gun in the post office

I really looked carefully and did not see one. But I'll look again next time I have to go there.

Ours doesn't have a sign. I see folks carrying in the PO regularly. I strongly suspect that most of them don't know that it's illegal.

I don’t have any interest in going to places that I can’t carry like concerts or travel. I have no desire for sports either in person or tv. If something isn’t related to my gun hobby, my knife hobby, my lifestyle of country living, I generally don’t have any interest. So my interests are limited.

I enjoy chopping wood, hunting, shooting, casting, reloading. Having breakfast at home, as well as dinner and supper, spending time with family. Working from my property. I also enjoy going to gun stores, and I don’t enjoy it, but I do spend some time going to stores where the wife wanders around in clothes for hours while I stand there looking bored. We enjoy yardsales.

The only place I go that I take my gun off is the post office.

Your post office has a bulletin board?

mine has no such thing just 2 self service kiosk if you turn right from the door along with various drop boxes for different types of mail, and if you turn left from the door there is an small open area where they sell shipping supplies and stuff and a desk against the wall where the sell stamps, then on the right side of that area there is a roped off line for the main shipping desk with a table on one side like you see in banks but instead of deposit slips it has pens and shipping slips so you can fill them out while waiting in line. The beyond that table there is the main shipping desk it generally has 2-3 people working it, and to the left of the main shipping desk there is a hallway that leads back to a small waiting area and some offices for passports and stuff.
