Do you hunt with more than one type of action?

I just bought a Winchester 70 SS Extreme in 30-06. I liked the Remington 700 too. However, I liked the Winchester more.

This gun will be a general purpose hunting rifle for coyote, hog, and deer. Someday, I plan to pick up a second rifle. Would it be a mistake to make the second rifle a Remington (push feed)? Or, do you like to pick one type of action (CRF) and stick with it for familiarity sake?

I open my safe and pick the one that feels good today, I love single shot Ruger No. 1s...beautiful...anything from .17hmr to 30-06, I like em all.

I hunt with single shots, bolt action '91 and '98 mausers, push feed, and of course semi autos, makes no difference to the deer.

I've used Winchester 94, 70. Remington Rolling Block, 600 and 788. Mauser 91, 93, and several variations of military and commercial 98. Marlin 1894 and 336 in several chamberings. Ruger #1. Savage 99. As said above; its whatever tickles my fancy when I open the safe to make preparations. In hand gun hunting I use single shot, single action and double action. Some rifles are open sights, some tang sights, some receiver sights and some scoped. Hand guns are scoped and open sighted.

Depends what you have and like! I would go for something different for the second, even beyond push vs controlled feed.

You have most all your bases covered with the 30 06, so maybe throw a lever action (mmm 45 70 or 30 30) or auto loader for the second.

That being said, I hunt deer and other big 4 legged things with a bolt or lever gun. Depends on the weather and what kind of hunting.

I was thinking about that as I was hunting this past weekend. My deer rifle is a bolt but my shotgun is a pump. They are significantaly different feeling guns and I have never tried to pump the rifle or opreate a bolt on the shotgun, but there is something to be said for consistancy. My advice:
Get a gun that is comfortable and make the first shot count then it doesn't matter.

Bolt with scope for the fields, lever with irons for the woods.

I have a Rem 700 push feed and a CZ 550 claw extractor. I also shoot my dad's sporterized military mauser. There is no problem at all transitioning between the guns.

Bolt actions (both left and right handed), single shots (break open, rolling block, & falling block), lever actions, and semi-autos in rifles.

Single shots, double barrels (O/U and S&S), and semi-autos in shotguns.

I have had pump action rifles and shotguns as well, just not currently.

So, um, yeah, I do. I have yet to misplace the safety but I have missed shots aplenty.

I use all action types. Tomorrow is our deer season opener. I plan on using a scoped bolt gun for my first deer (buck), then switch to a lever .44 for my does. After a couple of does with the lever, I will probably switch to a handgun. My Smith and Wesson Mountain Gun has bagged three so far.

Well, yeah! I use a variety of guns, mostly leverguns. Although for the last three years, all I've hunted with has been my Lyman Great Plains .54 and my Uberti 1873 replica .38-40. My lone centerfire boltgun, a Ruger 77MKII .270, has not been used in five or six years.

I am kind of like TexasPatriot308.
Last weekend I headed out for opening weekend of deer season with my Marlin 336.
I am leaving work in an hour to go again for the weekend and cant decide if I want to carry my Remington 870 rifle sighted 870 12 gauge,my bolt action Remington 600 243,or just grab the Marlin again.
The place I am hunting this weekend is heavily wooded and at best the shots will be 50 yards.
Decisions,decisions.

Not at all, while I prefer bolt guns with a CRF, I use both CRF and PF bolt rifles, levers, a single shot falling block, and semi autos. I plan to pick up a Circuit Judge in the future (but I really want one in .454Casull) and might even use it as well.

A variety. As an example, my main deer rifle is a Remington 760 in .308,...but depending on the situation or terrain,..I may use a Winchester 94 lever action in either 30/30 or .44 magnum,...

Almost every firearm I own has an intended purpose. Some are very specific,..some are multi use capable.

in my part of Texas I might have 500 plus yard shots, I only take shots like that at hogs cause I dont care if they run off or not...if I have to go in the brush after one I will carry my .45 colt Ruger Blackhawk Bisley loaded to the max at least a 300 grain cast bullett. we really dont have much use for brush guns but I do have a reliable model 94 and I dont know why, but I have an urge for a Ruger .44 carbine, they just look neat and now they are hard to find I hear. this weekend I will be using my Tikka T3 6.5 x 55 or a .22-250, decisions, decisions...
