DOB on a 66-1?

Just acquired a 66-1, serial # 110kxxx. Can somebody give me a DOB please?

I gave it the Jim March test, (thanks Jim), and it looks super. The Pachmeyer Grippers will have to go, but other than that, I'm pretty happy.

The S&W model 66 was introduced in 1970 with Serial Number K949100. Your 66-1 will have a serial number beginning with 10Kxxxx to 125Kxxxx. Check your 66-1 for a similar number and post, this will allow narrowing down the year. The number posted is not the Serial Number. S&W 66-1's were manufactured from 1977 to 1982. The S&W model 66-2 was introduced sometime in 1982.

110Kxxx would be 1981. The serial number range for 1981 is 91K6801 -124K000 per STANDARD CATALOG OF SMITH & WESSON by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas.
