So why not? :what:

Well it seems that so many folks have been buying guns that the BATF&E can't print #4473 forms fast enough to keep up. So they are sending a notice to FFL dealers that they will be allowed to make and use photocopies of the genuine government-printed form. However if a dealer runs out and hasn't made copies they may be out of business for the time being. It wouldn't hurt to drop a hint to your favorite retail gun-gouger.

On the other hand, this is hardly good news for some people in Washington. :uhoh:

Even the dumbest ones must know that if one is old enough to guy a gun from a dealer, they are also old enough to vote. They must also realize that all of this gun buying is going on during a massive economic downturn, and the root cause is somebody who is about to move into the White House.

With all of his present troubles he hardly needs this...

And it's all you’re fault. Don't you feel ashamed?

Sure you do...

Got the Yellow Form Blues? If so, relax. Our friends at ATF have announced that stocks of Form 4473, the yellow form that allows firearms transfers from licensed dealers to citizens are depleted. The notice from ATF follows:

"As a result of an unprecedented increase in demand for ATF Forms 4473 (5300.9) Part I Revised August 2008, inventory of the form at the ATF Distribution Center is running low.

"As a temporary measure, ATF is allowing FFLs to photocopy the form 4473 in it's entirety until they receive their orders from the ATF Distribution Center.

"A notice will be posted at the expiration of this temporary authorized change."

The message for licensees? "Copy the 4473 before you use the last one!"

E-mail from The Tactical Wire.

Good for us. I'd almost like to see the run on guns continue indefinitely just to keep these bureaucracies shuffling to keep up, but I am in the market for several ban-ready items, so it would be nice to see that type of inventory return to the store shelves.

You give the politicians way too much credit. The congressional leaders will cite this as more evidence of 'guns flooding our streets.' :banghead:

I am convinced from local shop traffic and commentary online that a lot of the recent buyers are first timers. I myself traded a revolver to an FFL who sold it a couple weeks later to a first timer. Now that they have a stake in the gun world, we are likely to gain voters and even a few activists from among their ranks.

"With every explosion, the revolution grows."

Yeah because no gun owner would vote for a gun grabbing liberal right?

True... But if things keep up the next flood may occur in the form of phone calls, e-mails, FAX messages and snail-mail letters.

Then they have to worry about gun owners flooding into voting booths in 2010.

This ain't the time to be buying on a 4473, unless it's a skeet gun or something.

Of course, private parties aren't so eager to sell their guns right now, either...

I've been using my pre-November 15th white ones for packing material. I wonder if I should save a few and if we'll be allowed to use those.

I'm also wondering if I should order a stack of them in Spanish and just keep the last English copy blank, so that people can read the English one and fill out the Spanish one. It would save my copier ink at least.

I have a better idea- consolidate your gun purchases. Instead of buying three guns on three different visits, buy them all at once, and save the 4473s! It's for the children!

:p

YOU PEOPLE MUST STOP THIS!!!

Our venerated Leader-To-Be has spoken to the press, and assured them that we, as gun owners, have nothing to fear. Of course he has repeatedly promised that changes (in everything) need to be made, so we must be good and expect some... ah... well, reasonable changes. Surely you understand that duck and deer hunters don't need those awful .50 caliber assault weapons that spray bullets all over, and use large capacity ammunition feeding devices.

Also, as our country's future Chief of Bliss Nannies, he has expounded on the subject on how those of you that are child-like (meaning everyone) have no business going to places of ill repute such as gun shows. Who knows whom you might meet, considering the kind of people that frequent such places.

Then there is his program to save the country from Global Cooling - Warming or whatever. Al Gore, his new Director or Environmental Improvement has stated his serious concerns about the amount of electrical power being expended on the printing presses used to print #4473 forms.

Surely you can stop buying guns, especially those that don't have approval for use in trap and skeet shooting, or hunting jackrabbits.

Do it for the children... :D

Probably the first time in history the government has ever run out of forms, heres an idea, send a stimulus package to all the small print shops in the country to print 4473's!!!! Novel idea...............

I didn't know they changed color after November 15th.

What is the reasoning behind this?

Do they do this every year?

Why November 15th?

Is that like the Ides of March or something?

"Beware the 4473 Ides of Novemeber!" Oooooooaaaaahhhoooo!:what:

Heck. Let's keep 'em in short supply! Buy more guns! Let's buy so many guns, they have to clearcut the entire South American continent for paper to make 4473's!

Can anyone request form 4473? I wanna buy several cases just to keep 'em busy.

better idea, dismantle the BATFE and redistribute the wealth down to the people in the form of a gift card good to be redeemed for 1 US M16 rifle! ( optional redemption for fake "hope" and "peace" for the hippies)

they changed the form back in... august?

you could use the old forms up till Nov 15th, or when you got your new ones in.
