Don't buy any more guns!

Well I went out and bought one today. There's just no passing up a Ruger 77 MKII in .264 win mag for $415.

Don't be to alarmed guys there is such a thing now of filing form 4473 online it is called E-4473. Keep buying guns no one is going out of business.

I think it shows that we as americans are definately doing our job!

Good Job Everyone..

p.s. I bought 3 black rifles in the last 2 months plus two black pistol grips, and 2 black high cap. mags for different gun

I just picked up a beautiful Colt Officers Model Special, DTD 1951. I asked the dealer about the 4473 shortage and he said he had several months supply on hand because this happens every time they revise the form, so he orders a large supply and then reorders when he receives the first order. So, I would say that experience dictates!!!!!!!!!

Has anybody else thought that just maybe the timing on "running out" wasn't an accident? How better to (blamelessly) put a damper on this flood of new purchases than to make it our fault for using up all the forms....

Don't even ASK me about a Grassy Knoll :neener:

First Timer...

I'm 42 yrs. old and a first time gun owner (I did shoot a little in Boy Scouts). For me it wasn't just the political climate that concerned me but the economic one as well. As I see it these are the two main factors that pose a real threat to my family's safety and general welfare. I purchased a S & W 686+ 4" and absolutely love it. I have only shot about 450 rounds to date, but I can't wait to put in more practice!

I have also just received my carry permit (it only took 45 days) I guess I just did beat the mad rush. Last but not least; I joined the NRA yesterday, we must remain diligent!

RoHoo,
Goodonya, and good choice of hardware!

Hey, we should all be congratulated for stimulating the economy!

I'm really worried.... Do you know what they do to a government agency that runs out of forms... ?? :neener:

well, i am hopeing that they give out another economic stimulous check. i will run it to the gun store the same day i get it!!:neener::D:what: hopefully, they wont have made ar-15's unobtainable by then.

"Let a thousand flowers bloom!" Support your local enabler, pick up the occasional FTF, and consider getting into black powder guns (which legally, are not really guns at all).

Also--wear at least one article of clothing every day that carries the "Molon Labe" phrase on it.

I thought they came out with a computer based form that can be used on a standalone computer system?

Hanzerik:

I think you're right, but that might have been for just keeping records in the "bound book." The problem with electronic #4473 forms is that the buyer has answer a number of questions and then sign and date the form. That requires a hard copy.

If I was a dealer and had the equipment (many don't) I'd scan a master copy, and thereafter use the file to make hardcopy reproductions using a printer. But without specific permission from the BATF&E you could get in trouble. They have a reputation of not always being dealer-friendly.

Old Fuff,
I'm thinking I read somewhere that the form could be filled out on a computer, then printed out and signed.

I'm thinking I read somewhere that the form could be filled out on a computer, then printed out and signed.

Probably, that in affect is what the recent notice from BATF&E says. One problem is that many small dealers don't have a computer/printer in their shops. Another is that it's the agency's responsibility to have the forms available.

Last but not least, there may be some folks in Washington D.C. who are coming into office, and are going to be very unhappy about what this news means in relationship to their future plans.

I don't believe that in the past the BATF&E ever ran out of forms because they couldn't keep up with sales. ;)

It's old news.

Same thing happened back in 1993. I did not sell hardly any guns in my gunsmithing shop, but the gun shops around here ran out of forms. They were callng me asking if I had any extra. I gave them all the ones I had.

Clinton had us all scared back then. We thought he was the anti gun devil himself. Every gun in every warehouse I called was sold out.

The panic is just a lot worse this time. The younger set has had sense drummed into them for the last 8 years, and they know that the Obama freight train is about to hit town.
Also, do not underestimate the effect that the Heller decision has had on the thoughts of the younger crowd. What they considered a "I don't know what it means" idea suddenly became a RIGHT. And, with the idealism of youth, they will and do excercise every right they can. It is the nature of the young.

I'm 50 now, but I still remember...

I noticed back just before Christmas when I picked up a 10/22 that the form was white instead of yellow, but didn't think anything of it. I guess I was helping the cause and didn't know it. (For those who are concerned about the 4473, there are I don't know how many dozen of them out there with my name on them, so one more won't hurt.)

I put another handgun (Single Six 50th anniversary) on layaway a week or so later so I'm still in the game. :D

1. there's a spanish one?
2. do they come in chinese or russian?

1. I've never seen it, but they offer one at the distribution center, so I'm pretty sure it actually exists.
2. The only ones you can order from the distribution center are English and Spanish.

Before anyone gets too worked up about how everyone in this country should speak English, there are some pretty difficult terms on the 4473 if English is your second language (some of the phrasing can be confusing if English is your first language). I think the purpose of the Spanish form is that they want people to understand exactly what they are saying.

For example, my Spanish is pretty good, and I can hold fairly lengthy conversations with Spanish speakers, but I would have no idea how to say "adjudicated mentally defective" in Spanish.

Buying FTF doesn't usually put more firearms in circulation.
Go the 4473 way. Keep buying. Your are putting people to work. Logging, paper mills, printers, mailmen, mining, transportation, machinists, general labor.:D

Even the dumbest ones must know that if one is old enough to guy a gun from a dealer, they are also old enough to vote. They must also realize that all of this gun buying is going on during a massive economic downturn, and the root cause is somebody who is about to move into the White House.

Maybe they should have thought about this on Nov. 4. Then we wouldn't be in this position.
