We'll see how much faster....

Heck, I need someone here to recommend a suppressor for a SBR AR.

It’s gonna be a **** show for the first few years. Don’t wait. file now even if it’s paper

Atf eforms website supposed to under go update dec 17-21.
Paste from email they sent.

What to expect
Once the upgrade is finished, you may notice a few changes in the eForms interface. Here's what to expect:

  • ATF eForm 4 is coming back. After the upgrade, you will be able to submit the ATF Form 4 electronically through eForms.
  • Electronic submission of ATF Forms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6A, 9, 10 and 5300.11 with the required electronic documents.
  • Electronic submission of fingerprint cards for ATF Form 4. You will be able to attach your “digital fingerprint cards” to your submission.
  • Support for larger file attachments. The updated eForms will accept electronic documents up to 30 MB in size.
  • Enhanced validations to ensure that the upfront validations of your data occur prior to submission.
  • User PIN for validating the submission of all forms as part of the submission process.
  • Self-service support for forgotten passwords and PINs.
  • Rules of behavior that must be accepted to proceed with the use of eForms.
  • “Ask the Expert” to send your questions to our subject matter experts.
  • Use of smarter technology to improve customer service and build a foundation for future enhancements such as an Application Programming Interface (API) and Captcha.

I'm not going to lie, there's an unkind part of me that hopes this is a disaster at rollout and it still takes 6 months for approval before dropping down to a week or 2.

But that is only because I am still currently waiting for approval on suppressor I bought in October of 2020. Now to be fair, because my dealer messed up the ATF didn't actually get the paperwork until March of 2021.

But if they can get wait times down into the couple week zone I could see cans five and maybe six in my future. Just when I think I'm done, they keep pulling me back in!

Rock & Mach: I've got a .223 SBR. I'm looking for essentially a "starter" suppressor. I've never bought a suppressor and am looking for some guidance. Thanks.

Look into a silencershop.com kiosk, I had heard they were quick and simple, but was surprised at how quick and simple.

Why do people keep writing this?o_O
I've had a Silencer Shop kiosk sitting in my dining room since they first came out.......I was the first home based dealer in the country to get one. In the six years I've had it not one customer has ever, in the history of mine or any other dealer with a Silencer Shop kiosk, ever shopped for or purchased a silencer from the kiosk. For the simple reason it doesn't do that. It scans fingerprints and can take some of the buyers info for the Form 4...........thats it.

Well, I walked into the shop, did my thing on the kiosk, picked out and paid for my can, then paid for the stamp and trust on silencershop's app when I got home.

I may not have bought the can through the kiosk, but it was a very simple process.

Checked with LGS yesterday where I purchased a can and was wanting to try the new e-form application. Was informed that they will try to get up and running on Friday. No info on if they can transmit fingerprints electronically. I am one of many who have cans they have purchased at this LGS. More to follow.

Why is the government making it easier???

Haha, saw some guy on reddit going off about "why would I want it digital so they can easily look it up? I'll stick to paper"

I guess everyone has their theory. I just figure it makes sense. It's 2022.

I understand the guys concern, let’s say the efile gets hacked by china, and now they have easy data on suppressor bro’s. Yes Yes I know… just thinking out loud

I wonder the same with Silencer Shops site. Everyone claims they have top notch web security but seems to always get hacked. My question is what would they do with the info? I do worry about identity theft.

silencers should be over the counter! probably solved

even in the most restrictive country’s they are easy to get and required for certain applications

Why is the government making it easier???
Because citizens have demanded it.
Because Congress approved the ATF budget line for software and hardware improvements.
Because paper form processing is time consuming.
Because they use of eForms for all other NFA forms has been a huge success.

If they wanted to make it easier they could just legalize them for everyone to own with out the $200 stamp.
Please.
"They" is Congress, not ATF.
Take a few minutes to understand that ATF didn't write the National Firearms Act, didn't pass it, didn't pull the $200 stamp fee out of thin air.....Congress did.

There are internal ATF documents that favor removing silencers from the NFA altogether. That won't happen until Congress agrees. (which ain't going to happen)
