Ah yes the elusive (and all expensive), P210! The closest I ever got to a P210 was an older military model and even then it was still priced at $1000 and way beyond my means at the time (or any other time for that matter)!

Official gun of the German Police.
I believe it might be more accurate to say that it was one of the three pistols aauthorized for German Policeuse in the mid-70s. The P6 (SIG Sauer), P5 (Walther), and P7 (H&K) were all approved for adoption by German police agencies and the various cantons/counties could choose which they wanted to adopt.

These were officially replaced by the P8 (H&K USP) in the mid-90s, although some districts/cantons retained their previous pistols

Nice well-rounded, got-all-the-bases-covered SIG family you've got there!

Still need a P210, lol!

Eh, not really.

The P210 is a different animal built by what was really a different company. I try never to group Sig P210's and Sig Sauers together. Totally different guns.

Great condition!

My '81 North Westphalian P6 is no beauty queen, but it has been my constant companion for over a decade, CCW, nightstand, and glovebox at various times. My very favorite SIG (far right.)

Very nice collection.

I like all the German Sig Sauers (I don't buy the American stuff)

Here's some West Germans...

...and some German Mastershop pistols

Again, the P210 is a totally different breed, but here are some of mine.

Fair enough- and WOW, awesome collection yourself!

Ive got a P250 and P238 which I don't include in that photo because they aren't "real SIGs" but they are still nice guns. I would definitely put a 210 right in the center as a place of honor, though!

Excellent.

If I didn't already have a P6 ('01) and P228 ('94) in the same condition, plus a spare 'shooter ('94) P228,
I would not have sold my nice P225 to a friend who grew up in Essen Germany. So many Sigs were stamped "NRW", for the highly-industrialized state where he grew up, but proofed in Kiel ("squashed bug" on the chin).

Man , I wish I would have never got rid of my 2 P6's . I bought them both for $249 each in 2009 . Both were still floating in oil and like new.

I always thought the P6 was the official gun of the German police and the P225 was the civilian version?

Yes they are basically the same thing.

The P6 is not THE official gun either. Two others were adopted at the same time.

I also have an Interarms imported P-220 in .45. Anyone know a source for magazines? Always wondered if the new mags would work with the bottom bumper removed.
If yours has the heel mag release you need the original 7 round mags with flat steel baseplate. If American release the new mags work fine.

From the same bit of German design inventiveness and ingenuity that gave us the Sig Sauer P6 also produced the Walther P5 and the HK P7. Definitely some great choices there for your "official" pistol!

The difference s are the markings, open (impact- detection) hammer, and spring rates (heavier trigger pull) on the P6.

I know the differences, I have both also. The OP just said the P225 was the official German police pistol and I always thought it was the P6. I never knew of the P225 being adopted by any law enforcement agency in Germany.
