EDC/CCW: how many rounds do YOU carry?

I carry 12+1 rounds of 9mm hollow point in my Taurus PT111 G2, plus an extra 12 round mag depending on where I'm going. I don't envision ever needing more than 12 rounds, but sometimes it's nice just to have the peace of mind.

I'm waiting for the post telling us 19+1 and 2x 19 round mags for a primary
How did you guess?

Yes, it really is my every day carry, and I really do carry two spare magazines. Even in Arizona summers, under a loose t-shirt using a High Noon holster, A Slide Guard for winter and open carry, and a Close Encounter IWB for summer carry.

The holster and belt are the key. ;)

Right now I carry my Makarov PM with 8+1, so 9 rounds altogether. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't currently carry a spare magazine. This will change very soon as I am researching single and double IWB magazine pouches. So, my total round count WILL go up to either 8+8+1 (17) or 8+8+8+1 (25) depending on which I go with. Still debating on whether to bother carrying two spares or just one...

Six rounds in the cylinder. That's all, brother.

I have ordered a couple of speed strips. My speed loaders are too hard to carry without a belt pouch.

I either carry a S&W 49 -- 5 round 38 special

or a S&W 431PD -- 6 round 32 H&R magnum

In each case I carry one speed strip as a reload.

Since San Bernadino, I've been carrying 3 Glock OEM 12 round 9mm magazines plus one in the pipe of my G26. Total 37 rounds. I've carried no spare mags, one spare mag most commonly a 17 round G17 magazine and 2 spare mags always in pockets. I got more serious after that incident and went to 2 spare mags on my belt. To tell the truth its easier to carry two mags on my belt than one in my pocket. I tried larger Glock mags but they were not as comfortable because G26 mags are short and don't poke me in the side. Even the +2 ones are nice and short.

Typically, LC9s, 7+1 in the gun and 9 rd spare mag, evenly split between pocket, IWB and OWB pancake holster.

If I'm having a great week and my back tolerates it I'll carry my SR9c IWB (10+1) with a spare 17 rd mag on the belt with the LC9 and it's spare mag in pocket for a total of 45 rounds.

Don't think for a moment I need that much...just 'cause I can.

15 rounds if I am carrying my Berretta. 7 if I am carrying my Bersa. I do plan on a getting a snubby and I will probably carry a speed strip with that. Basically, I don't carry extra mags mainly out of laziness I suppose. My pockets get full. Keys, change, a knife, cell phone and wallet take up a lot and I don't want anything else hanging off my belt.

I generally have a P99 with a spare 15, a PPS with a spare 8, or a 1911 with a spare 8. It's easier to throw the spare in the front pocket in the winter.

EDC/CCW: how many rounds do YOU carry?

Except for when I am carrying my KelTec P3AT (I modded the Uncle Mike's pocket holster to contain a spare mag), I rarely carry additional ammunition for my carry piece.

When I am wearing a coat/jacket I will sometimes add a spare mag (or speedloader) to a pocket ... but usually not.

I always carry with a round chambered.

Currently in my carry rotation: P3AT, PF9, 3.3"XDs.45, G19Gen4, G30s, Bulldog.44.

My 5 shot Taurus M85UL Ultra Lite is just that - light. I carry it in a pancake OWB with 2 speed strips in my pocket.
For me anyway OWB is much easier than IWB. The 85 does not pull my britches down.

i might carry an extra magazine, but I usually leave it in the truck, if I am being honest.

If I'm carrying the G19 or 92fs, 15+1...maybe an extra mag.
LCR 5 rounds of 9mm...might toss a spare moon clip in my jacket pocket because they are fast reloads.

As a result of the mass shooting in Newton and Hesston, Kansas and a sniper incident shortly thereafter I am moving away from a 5 shot .38. My snubby has a lot of carry miles on it but things have changed.

At the moment my primary EDC is a SIG P239. With one in the pipe I have nine rounds with eight more in spare magazine.

Even thou one poster has mocked me not feeling safe outside of my home I am planning to upgrade to a Beretta 92FS. I brought a second 92FS last Spring and want a M-9. What can I say. I like the 92 platform.

I have a Sparks IWB holster for it but need to get a stiffer belt and a spare magazine holder. Kansas is permitless Open and Conceal Carry so carry either way is not a issue.

While 20 round magazines are available I have choose to standardize with 15 round ones. With a spare mag that makes for 31 rounds.

A year ago I would strongly disagreed with the need of civilian needing to use surpressive fire until more help arrives. However with the Lone Wolf ISIS attacks that are starting to become common here in the U.S. and coordinated mass hostage and murders such as in France a lot of firepower in the first few minutes could well save lives by giving people a chance to escape.

Terrorism is here in America.

I've pretty much relegated myself to a single stack. Small hands they just fit me better. One xtra mag. If I go to Philly, M&P40 +1 mag.
I carry a mod 37 when I walk the dog.
I guess I'm getting old, I worry more than I use to. Can't run far, can't fight much anymore.

The first CCW class I took was taught by an active-duty sheriff's deputy. He said that 99% of civilian gun encounters are ended with 0-3 shots. That said, I would think that for a normal day a single gun on you with your reloads in your vehicle will be good. If you do get into an encounter, it will probably be with one to three persons. And the idea is to defend yourself and get away from the threat. However, I can't help thinking about that poor truck driver who stumbled into that riot, got pulled out of his truck, and was beat to death. Therefore, when going to a different city (or even on a long day trip) I have a backup on me, with a couple reloads in the vehicle.
This is the exact scenario I'm most worried about . Or coming across a Black Lives Matter protest where they have the freeway blocked and at some point begin assaulting my vehicle with my wife and kid inside. I'm considering carry an M4 style rifle with multiple magazines in my vehicle for that scenario.

Currently I carry my 12+1 .40S&W. Usually when going a good distance away from the house I carry a spare 12 round magazine on the opposite side. I also carry a large folding pocket knife, pepper spray in my pocket, and a high powered flashlight. Pepper spray is more for wild dogs, light for power outages and Murphy hiding small things under bigger things, and knife for opening stuff.

As I'm not in LE or in the military anymore, the odds that I'll be going into battle are extremely low. I carry enough rounds to fill what-ever gun I'm carrying that day. Usually, that means either 7 rounds in my 938SIG or 5 rounds in my 642S&W. I feel very comfortable with either one, and heads-up over those who carry pepper spray, an air horn, or nothing at all..

I am a retired LE and carried a Glock 26 for years with no spare magazine. 10 seems like a reasonable number based on my experience and knowledge of how shootings normally work out. 10 may be on the low side considering the current state of the world but it's the minimum number I picked. Pick the number YOU want. I switched to an XDs 45 and with it's smaller magazine I do carry a spare.

My back isn't happy with my past lifestyle and the lighter I can get my belt the better. Don't even carry a knife anymore most of the time.
