Electronic Hearing Protection

A guy at range a fews months back had a pair of the smaller Peltors that he said he caught on sale (forgot where!) for $99. He forgot them and did not return to pick up after I called him for a month or so. They folded into a very small size when not in use. I took the liberty of wearing them a couple of times while loaning my bigger pair to a student.

Once again, it made me want to get another pair of electronics for use during private sessions. Speaking and hearing during such times IS often important. I may go with Pro Ears or such just to be able to try the difference ...

I have Pro Ears Series 1 (the basic). 50dB noise reduction (not 20dB) and keeps sound down to below 70dB, according to the Spec sheet.

I've got the Remington brand from Wally World for $100. They seem OK to me, but I have not compaired them to the high end models. I saw the same ones under a different lable last week for around $65. I bought them for hunting with my .44 mag. but now I see the advantages of wearing them while hunting. I can hear things walking around in the woods that I never heard before. At teh end of the evening when I removed them, it was like I had gone deaf.
