Dean....I applaude your thoughtful post and useful review of data and stats. Anyone who cares to do a bit of study can find plenty of data to demonstrate that gun ownership does not cause violent crime. The intellectually lazy and opportunists (politicians) seize on tragedies to promote radical "solutions" to make themselves feel good and to promote greater government control. Thank you for your contribution to the dialogue.

You are welcome. I have been looking at this for 40 years, back before the FBI stopped listing Japanese homicides as a seperate category.
That made it clear that culture was far more important, by orders of magnitude, than access to guns.
