Even with Ill. Supreme Court ruling carrying a weapon is still not a reality

I am in no hurry to pay through the nose for a license to carry almost nowhere.

What one ends up with is a license to keep a gun in your car.
Agreed! Illinois' concealed carry permit is the worst I've ever seen! Far too restrictive, way too expensive for training and cost of the permit. The anti's scored a big victory on concealed carry in the Land Of Lincoln!

Not the worst, at least it's shall issue.
Yeah, it's shall issue. If you have a FOID card and a clean record you'll be able to get a permit. You'll be good to go to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle, but where are you going to carry it? Wal Mart? Maybe a few other retail stores, some restaurants. Once the permits start getting issued watch the NO GUNS signs start popping up in business' windows. Along with all the other restricted areas you're not going to be able to carry much of anywhere.

I don't like it either. I actually asked my legislators to vote against it, but I do think it better than a permit in NY, CA, and HI.

Nice work on the summary, Trent.

103 people wrongfully arrested? That would make for a nice class-action suit against the Prosecutor's office.

And I thought some of our PAs were bad....

Just wait for the thousands (tens of thousands?) of people who have been wrongfully arrested, charged, and convicted of Unlawful Use of Weapons or Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons go to court to get their records expunged. Going to get REAL expensive for the State.

I know one guy, personally, that did 2 years in Joliet for AUUW. He had a loaded gun in his car. The car was locked, but he wasn't even in it - he was inside at work at the time they searched his vehicle. I'm sure he'll go back to court now to get the felony wiped out.

Well let me look at this. The Democrats are pulling all kinds of shenanigans to keep voters from having to produce a photo ID to vote because someone, somewhere might be inconvenienced by having to go to the state or county office to get a photo ID.

However, legal gun owners can be subjected to days on end of having to get fingerprints, photos, background checks, police approvals, ID cards, and whatever else they can throw at us, plus many hundreds of dollars in fees in order for us to be able to enjoy a legal constitutional right. Sounds perfectly normal to me.
