Fargo ND; Terrorist with binary trigger

I have a shooting colleague who has an AR with one of these triggers and it does what it was designed to do just fine. It is good at giving covering fire if the user is disciplined, but I have not been in a situation where I have needed covering fire since about 1993, so I don't have one personally. I have a couple of lowers with burst capability and prefer them in a SHTF situation though the binary trigger, while pricey, is much cheaper and easier to obtain.

As said above, Biden's AFT is hot on the trail of binary and forced reset triggers.

I doubt most gun grabbers have any understanding of what FRT and binary triggers are, or they would have already included them in their inane rhetoric.

A common part of these shooting incidents is the FBI was aware of and had interviewed the shooters. The Boulder, Colorado King Soopers shooter was interviewed by the FBI and his sister attempted to invoke Colorado's newly inacted Red Flag law.
Had the Fargo shooter been interviewed by the FBI?

Thanks for the instruction... never heard of a binary trigger until now - guess I need to do a bit of paying attention... I'm old enough to remember the late seventies when the fashion among some close quarters vehicle ambushes (cocaine cowboys and their wannabes...) was to take a Tec 9 and glue a piece of a rubber eraser inside the trigger guard so that the trigger was not able to reset - and then you run out of ammo in quick time, hopefully while controlling the little horror as it went full auto... The interior of any nice car turned into a very bad place to be if targeted...
Ban erasers!

Given that a binary trigger fires both on the pull and release, it is possible to fire twice as fast with a binary trigger over a standard trigger.

I didn't say that it was worse. One would assume that the people who pay for such triggers feel that being able to fire twice as fast as normal is better, not worse. For example, the 10/22 trigger linked to above costs 70% of the MSRP for a new basic 10/22. I'm pretty sure that someone willing to pay that feels like it will make the gun better.

On the other hand, people who gasp at the thought of guns that fire with every pull of the trigger (Oh my!) probably feel that guns that fire with every pull of the trigger AND every release of the trigger are even worse. I suppose it's all in perspective.

What isn't really up for objective debate is that guns with binary triggers can be fired much faster than guns without them. So much faster that I've even seen some demonstrations where the shooter was able to outrun the native cyclic rate of the firearm with a binary trigger, resulting in a malfunction.
I once saw a video of a woman who IIRC was the company rep for one of the companies that makes binary triggers, having a kind of contest shooting one at the same time as another shooter standing next to her on the range was shooting a full auto. She was faster, and was very exhilarated about that result.

Sounds like a neat contraption to play with once or twice but not worth the headache of owning them for me. Nor are bumpstocks or any of the various hell-fire trigger devices ive seen over the years. Its a shame because I like interesting creative workarounds and different designs. Making the stuff illegal or banning things isnt really a solution either. With all the 3d printers going on (I wont own those either) I dont see how this stuff can be suppressed. AFT is in a bit of a pickle on this stuff. I guess it gives them an excuse to continue to harass firearms enthusiasts though.

Sounds like this "terrorist" was a mole. Im sure he isnt the only one if the story is true. Then again who knows what to believe coming out of these agencies anymore. Interesting story though. Im sure we will here more incidents like this as election time nears. Gotta keep ramping up that fear and making people paranoid of ..EVERYTHING EVERWHERE ALL THE TIME.

If he was "very deep cover" he wouldnt have been caught LOL. From the story it just looks like the guy wanted to die and take as many people with him as possible. I dont really buy the notion that this guy wasnt raising major suspicion. Hunch is just let it go because of political ramifications. Unless he was some sort of operative but Im not getting that from the news report (which I dont trust anyways these days).

What happens when you only want to shoot 1 round?
There's a position on the safety for single shots, and you're supposed to be able to pull the trigger in binary mode and if you switch the safety while the trigger is depressed you can let off without firing. I don't own one, or have any desire but I did research and watch a couple videos. For me, shooting for accuracy is more fun than just letting lead fly.
