I have a 6.5 CM and a 264 Win Mag. Looking hard at the 6.5-300 Wby and the 26 Nosler.

Looks like I'm the only that has chosen the 264 Win Mag so far.

I chose it for personal reasons, not data based, but it's a laser that got a bad rap and is a hammer on whitetails

So that means everybody else that voted is wrong!!! 🤭

I have a 6x54 Mauser Short that was a bring back from WWI from my grandfather's time spent in France during the war to end all wars.

It is a nice rifle with set triggers .

The ammunition is obsolete so reloading is a must. But I have found 7x57 cases work the best. 7mm-08 cases are a good alternative,

There are other rifle/cartidge combination that are better in performance than the 6.5x54 Short Mauser but it is a nice round,.

.260 Remington…I bought a Savage short action receiver and a Criterion barrel from Northland Shooters Supply. Stock is Bell & Carlson.

Condor;
Try Reloader22, RL17, and IMR/H4350 in your .260. Mine despises Varget.
My Remington M-7 with a 1/11” twist barrel (What was Remington thinking?) will shoot the 140gr Speer with 45.0gr of RL22 to 2,700fps and 5-shots at or below 1”@100yds. With a PPU 120gr BtHpt over 42.0gr of IMR4350 will shoot 5/8” 5shots@100yds. It abhors anything above 123gr with a plastic tip and boat tail.

However, I voted 6.5Grendel as I just took possession of a Howa M1500mini. Just mounted a scope on it last night. Plan to take it to the range this morning. It’s under 7lbs scoped, almost wispy! Decent trigger, too. However, with a 1/8” twist, it’ll handle anything weight wise. Already have about 200rds of various weight bullets loaded as I have also a BCA 6.5G upper for my AR’s.

I've look at those Howa minis in the past and if I were to get one, it would be the 6.5 Grendel. Sounds like a fun setup. Only detractor for me is the way the DB mag hangs well below the profile underneath.

I marked the .260 Rem as my favorite 6.5 because it has served me so well in hunting fields and target ranges. Actually it was my favorite even before Remington adoped it with a new name. Previously it was known as the 6.5/08, 6.5 Panther and other names. On the HIgh-Power target range it became a record setting favorite because of its mild recoil, long range accuracy, acceptable barrel life and performed beautifully with about any combinations of bullets and powder you could put together. For the same reasons, it became the must-have caliber among Silhouette shooters, almost totally replacing the .308 Win. Attached are a pair of .260's used in Silhouette competitions: top is rifle built on M-700 short action with Shilen barrel,(Note the enlarged profile near the muzzle.) laminated stock designed and made by Fajen for offhand shooting, Canjar trigger and Leupold 24X scope with large target type windage and elevation adjustments. The other is Remington M-700 standard cataloged factory rifle as specified by Hunter Class Silhouette rules, original trigger and Krieger barrel turned to factory profile, 24X Leupold scope same as on other rifle. 5 mins on a sliding chop saw can fix that to a degree.

Put me down for the 6.5G. I've bought both a bolt action (Ruger American) and a AR (BCA) in the last couple years and have enjoyed working up loads and shooting them. Both rifles, although eco models, are incredibly accurate which makes it fun.

I also have a M96 Swede in 6.5x55. Another great rifle, definitely one of the best foreign bolt action mil-surps. When my youngest son turned 12 and needed a deer rifle, I bought him a .260 Rem Model 7, largely because of how much I liked my 6.5x55. I know that he is happy with my choice.

I can't believe how long it took for Americans to embrace .264 caliber!

I chose other. Im partial to the 6.5x257 roberts purely for sentimental reasons. I have a type 38 calvary carbine, not the ones the Japanese cut down to fit for calvalrymen. It was a pacific war bring back that my grandfathers brother somehow managed to get home in great condition with the intact chrysanthemum. Grandfather had it reamed to take the roberts case as apparently the 6.5Jap ammo was difficult to obtain in the 60s when he got the gun from his brother. Its surprisingly accurate

Curious what the difference is between the 6.5-257 and the 6.5x57, since I'm assuming both are based off the 7x57 / 8x57 parent cartridge?

My vote was a 264wm due to it was the 1st 26cal I ever shot ('61 mod70). It was my dad's he bought new after graduating HS. I started shooting it when I was 11. Now I own 5 on that list (Grendel, creed, rem, prc & wm).

Just looking at the results, and thinking what a bunch of oddballs we are here. The 6.5 Swede is leading the 6.5CM by 6 votes. You know in the real world, the 6.5CM is probably 100 times more popular than any other 6.5. Just made me chuckle a bit. :)
Maybe, maybe not. As much as the Creedmoor has been pushed on the masses by manufacturers and gun writers, the old Swede had about a 113 year head start.
