Though the internet provides a wealth of (mis)information on firearms of all types, what periodicals do you regard as the best with regard to firearms generally? (I'm not particularly interested in the super-specialized hunting magazines, more so longarms, sidearms, accessories, etc.)

Although they're not dedicated gun magazines, I like Field and Stream as well as Outdoor Life. Both have some pretty good information and reviews. I also like any of the NRA magazines. Haven't read much of the Guns and Ammo or similar magazines, and I've heard that their reviews depend a little too much on who is paying for advertising at the time (i.e., if the manufacturer has taken out a full page ad, its more likely that their reviews for that manufacturer's products will be more positive than is warranted).

my favorite is guntests, also guns & ammo for the color pictures. shotgun news to see some prices and guns i can't buy in cali

I like Guns and weapons for law enforcement. They seem to have the best reviews and more of a variety of what i like to read.

THR

I get more information from this webboard than from any gunzine.

I like Handloader though and get American Rifleman.

I second that. I am disappointed in the declining quality of American Rifleman. Back in the 90's it used to be a pretty good gun mag. Now I find that it is just awful.

I have a few

American hand gunner... Big pretty pics and humorous authors. Whats not to like

I really like G&A’s “Book of” series. “Book of the AR” and “Book of the 1911” I find them to be good reads, but they are obviously topic specific.

"American Handgunner" primarily for Ayoob and the rare article on Wheelguns. Like dinosaurs, print is lumbering off to extinction..but until I can afford a laptop for "Boardroom" reading, this publication will stay at Rancho Relaxo.

Tried "Guntest" but allowed it to lapse when I discovered their web sight wanted to gig a paying subscriber to view past articles. That's not acceptable to me. Additionally, a "whim" all too often dictated the rating of an item that really had no bearing on the overall performance.

American Handgunner - mainly for Ichi's photography.

I used to enjoy the combat-related stuff - CH, G&W4LE, SWAT, etc, but it seems to me those are just too full of crappy, low-spec mall-ninja/tacticool gear ads these days :barf:

Shotgun News (AKA The Wall Street Journal of guns)
Small Arms Review

Shotgun News has interesting articles on gunsmithing and historical guns and Small Arms Review has interesting articles on guns that are too cool for (most) Americans to own.

Small Arms Review

Sometimes I'll pick up a Shotgun News.....but I never miss an issue of SAR.

The articles in SWAT are pretty good, but unfortunately there is usually a ton of mall-ninja advertising in the mag.

Smallarms Review. Strangely, the new bookstore in town carries it without fail, but they get Gun Week every OTHER week, and stopped getting the New York Review of Books entirely. This is ESPECIALLY strange since the people who work there are whacko leftists, one of whom has a Kucinich sticker on her car.
