For me, it's heavy-barreled varmint rifles, followed by semi-auto handguns, in either .45 ACP or .22 LR. I do love my shotguns, but not as much as my rifles.
semi-auto handguns. for some reason i shoot them better than any other gun, including rifles and revolvers.(shotguns don't count in accuracy to me, point and click-user friendly!) give me a couple mags to get the feel for the trigger and i will shoot the X out with a semi auto handgun. give me a $1000 dollar rifle with a $1000 dollar optic, and i may hit the X a few times. maybe i just need more range time with my rifles, i shoot the pistol every range trip, but the rifles not so much.
Single shot rifles, Finer grades of sxs shotguns, especially my French sliding breech models, Swiss and Swedish milsurps. My M41 S&W22 handgun above all other handguns.
Bolt-action, heavy barrel is a lot of fun. There's the challenge of reading the wind, estimating range, trying to hold the darn thing steady enough...
I enjoy shooting 1911 pistols, the Garand, .22 rifle as well, but I guess I'm more of a varmint hunter than anything. (And varmint hunting is good practice for deer hunting...)
I like all types of firearms, some more than others. My bigest love though is the M1 carbine. It's the first firearm I ever shot where I actually hit what I was aiming at. I was about 10 years old and my uncle took me out shooting adn I couldn't hit spit with anything he handed me. I figured I'd waste a few of his rounds just to say I had shot one and wouldn't you know it, I hit the target. Figured it was a fluke so I pulled the trigger again. Pretty close to the first shot. Aimed at an old fence post stuck in the ground, saw splinters fly, shot at an old can about 30 yds out, went flying in the air like I'd seen on TV. From that point on, it was love.
any that go bang when i pull the trigger and are not uncomfortable to pick up. still have 3 that are just too heavy for this old man to carry around. no they are not for sale
I like them big ole' honkin' battle rifles, bolt action or otherwise.
You know, the kind you can use for shooting, pole vault, ditch digging, brush clearing, or as a club, tent post, flag pole, etc.
Love em all but only use shotgun for turkey and home defense
rifles and pistols, any action any caliber. If I am shooting 300 - 600 yards, 308, serious distance 300WBY, plinking any gun short or long from 30-30 down to BB gun. Yup a BB gun at 26' is fun, cheap too. Answer: no favorite type.
