It depends on what use. I really like the .38 Special for target shooting and plinking. However for SD, I'd prefer .357 or 45ACP in a decent sized gun.

Unfortunately, carrying a big gun is not always possible, so it looks like .38 Special would usually be my choice for SD also.

I voted 45 colt, but it was a toss-up between that and 45 acp, with 38 special right behind. For some reason, I don't shoot much 357 (although the wife prefers it to 38).

I shoot .38 Special more than anything, followed by .357 Magnum. But for pure shooting enjoyment, I really like the .44 Special.

Since the Ruger SB .44 mag was the first center fire revolver I owned, I loved that gun and shot it a bunch for sure over the years. But lately, I'm thinking of going to a .45 Colt. Something about that round appeals to my fancy!! Might as well stick a Ruger Super single six in the mix as well!!:p

I still think the .41mag is the sleeper cartridge of all time and dealy hope the ammo makers would wake up to this fine cartridge. It gives the .44mag a run for the money even with it's limited loadings. Push it and give it heavier bullets and that gap will close considerably.
41mags always find a home with me.

No question, but .45 Colt is my all-time favorite. Being typically fickle, as most gun owners are, my recent interests are heavily weighted towards the .44 S&W Special - so it received my vote. Of course, the .45 ACP in a 625 is pure fun - and I recently discovered the .38 Special. Is this like the elder Mayor Dailey's old Chicago... ie, can I vote often??

I chose .45ACP because my favorite revolvers are in that caliber.
Farscott’s right though – it’s hard to have more fun than a K-22 and a brick of .22.
