So last night I shared an info graphic on facebook comparing a wood stocked mini 14 to an AR-15 and how they are essentially the same rifle, save for the cosmetic differences. Now I know the differences go beyond that, but in trying to keep it simple for an uneducated public the primary points were that they shoot the exact same bullet from the same style of detachable magazines but people want to ban the AR because it "looks scary" when no one would feel the need to ban the mini 14 because it looks more like a hunting style rifle. It gathered a few likes and comments before I went to bed and when I woke up this morning it was all gone. The post had been removed and even the notifications for the likes and comments I received had been removed.

Have any of you seen FB do something similar? I know there have been reports lately of them removing and limiting posts and "trending topics" coming from conservative pages, but to remove personal posts that are simply sharing information even if they don't agree with it is getting pretty extreme in my opinion!

Haven't seen that. I have a friend with a very similar post that has been getting comments for a few days now.

Haven't seen that at all. Might be a fluke. I've seen many similar posts that have stayed up. Did you post it on your own page or a group page? Could the group page admins have taken it down? If not it's worth firing off an email to FB and asking about it. I'd be curious to know what they say.

I don't know but they have been pretty relaxed on their new "no sales" policy that they enacted a little while back. I just sold a Bersa a couple weeks ago, and I see others advertising guns for sale frequently. Almost every week on some of the "swap and shop" pages that I keep an eye on. I believe it is up to the viewing public to flag posts and then they go for review. So maybe you've got some anti friends? Or their friends?

It was on my personal page. I figured it was a friend that flagged the post but it still shocked me that they actually removed it as it was purely educational and violated no policy that could find.

I use my Facebook page purely to list new Kindle books I do, most of which are gun-related.
As of a few minutes ago, everything is still there.

someone reported you. fb doesn't monitor your fb and delete it one of your friends did it.

Happens all the time...

either you triggered a searchable word in their algorithm and the circa 2016 version of a new age, hippy liberal hipster reviewed your post and subjected it to their bias.

or...

you have an anti friend who reported you, and the same FB hipster did the same thing.

So simply reporting the post will remove it or does it flag it for FB to review and remove it?

A colossal waste of the only thing you really have : time.

You're not missing much.

Completely depends on how you use it, and how much you use it of course. I don't personally use it much for all the BS most people do, 90% of the little I do use it for is to follow groups that interest me for news and and what's happening within those communities. Firearms and politics is a big chunk of that. The other 10% is putting up pictures of my kids for the grand parentsand family to see and crap along those lines. It's a great way to stay connected to people you're not physically close to. But I also sometimes use it for "activism" such as my post last night.

Before the Great Facebook sell out to the anti-gun crowd, I was a member of, almost, 50 separate local gun buy, sell, trade groups. Just about ALL of my firearms acquisitions in the last 5-10 years have come through deals made via Facebook. I also used it to connect with fellow C&R holders and acquired some awesome milsurps through it. These are guns that I would not have been able to acquire without Facebook. To the OP's question....I agree with those who say you were reported. That's happened in several of the groups I belong to.

Unless you posted something like "that's what I'd use to keel a whole buncha peeps...", it would 't get automatically flagged.

One of your friends reported you.

I couldn't be paid to use Facebook. And I'm not surprised by this report.

Happened to me as well. Was educating some of my wife's friends and the whole string of my comments and others disappeared. Really irksome as no rules were violated. Sad how the left cannot handle the truth.

I have seen that post shared by several of my friends, as far as I know those are still up.

I double checked. The same post you were referring to is still very much active on my FB account and several others. I don't think FB automatically deletes posts. I think someone who is one of your "friends" reported the post.

I ignore FaceBook for the same reason I ignore professional wrestling.

I'm an adult with a modicum of self-respect.

I'd rather have syphilis than FaceBook.

FB will delete copyrighted content, and many times when something disappears it's because you embedded something that somebody else disputed as copyrighted.
