I've got limited internet time at the hotel, so I'll try to make this quick. This is the stuff that I've seen so far. I'll post more in depth stuff, and pictures once I get home.

New stuff:

Sig: 556 rifle. I like it. I'm preordering a bunch of them if somebody wants some. Good execution.

FN: SCAR, pretty damn cool. Will have more info on later. Like, but don't like the charging handle design. Other than that seems real well thought out.

Smith M&P: Rifle, just another AR, nice but nothing special. Pistol, another plastic wonder gun, didn't impress one way or the other. Seems nice, feels pretty comfy.

Kel-Tec: Has a skinny single stack 9mm. Skinny in the slide and frame.

Streamlight: Awesome new lights. Weapon mounted systems are very impressive, and reasonably priced. Also ordered a big pile of them.

Eo-Tech: New sight is awesome. Like old, but with ARMS quick release, and 900+ hours of battery life. Once again, ordering a big pile of them.

Lots of other things to post about. Some really awesome stuff I'm involved in, but currently sworn to secrecy. :) More to come later, and I'll post pictures when I'm back in the store.

Correia,

Keep us posted on the SIG rifle...as soon as you know more about price and availability pass it on. Some of us might want one. ;)

I think the MSRP on the 556 is $1299. Check out the 556 thread on the Sig forum. At last ckeck nearly 30 pages long. Includes many pics.

The new EoTech is the 553. I'm putting in an order for lots of them. I'm very excited as my only complaint about the regular sight is the battery life.

Other stuff. Saw the civvy Aug today. Pretty nice. Civillian ones will be available in a year.

I did a lot of stuff with various AR manufacturers.

Vltor has a prototype of a monolithic upper that will retail for a whole lot less than the LMT if it goes to production.

Daniel Defense has a great rail system that hinges the bottom off for an M203.

Wilson Combat has a cheesy little poly pistol. I think it is that old South African poly 9mm that I can't remember the name of. It is small, feels cheap, but is around $500 if I recall correctly.

Beta C-mag has a .308 prototype. Large, but so very very very cool.

Lots of training simulators, projectors and gas recoil guns, shoot no shoot scenarios. FBMG is going to have one of these in our store, and we're going to pick which one at SHOT. They are doing some really neat things with them now.

More to follow. SHOT is always insanely busy.

You don't mean the Vektor, do you? The really swoopy looking one that they recalled as unsafe all over the States?

Matthew, no, not the Vector, I think it was the DePleis or something like that. I can't remember the US commerical name.

Harry, that little thing is AWESOME. I'm biased, as I'm already a dealer for Tactical Innovations, but it is an AR upper in .22 LR that takes American 180 drums, even a new 275 round drum. It is bottom ejecting, through the mag well. The workmanship is superb.

For SLCDave, who PMed me, The Taurus 1911s will ship in April.

ACE stocks has a bullpup AR. Uses a different recoil spring so no buffer in the stock. Prototype form only now, but I'm a sucker for bullpups.

I was at FN to order a select fire F2000 dealer sample and some belt fed machine guns, and I was shown something that is absolutely mind blowing, but I'm sworn to secrecy. :)

Saw Jeff OTMG, super stud that he is. And met Henry Bowman today, who is going to help me on some patent stuff. Real nice guy.

Hmm

Kel-Tec sounds like a total winner. I love my chromed .380, but never bought the P-11 because it was just too thick. I'll get one of these new ones now that they've made them thinner. Watch out Kahr...with their reliability problems past couple of years, and outrageous pricing...

SCAR/SIG556...bah, a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. The AR-15 rifle is a fine rifle as is. It's only problem is the thousands of (non expert) people regurgitating malfunction stories started from Vietnam. Jeesh, the story of the AR-15 is basically the tale of starting off on the wrong foot and being plagued by it for 40 years. Everyone is slobbering over piston uppers, this mod that mod, scars, XCR's Sigs...The whole idea behind the 556 is that it would be in a LIGHT rifle, be accurate and all of that. Now, 556 rifles are becoming heavier and heavier. If people want pistons, go .308 or something else. I really believe the cartridge and rifle platform all belong to a "system" based on a certain philosophy....Price will be outrageous. If a rifle is going to cost $1,300 or more, use a piston (ie, going to be heavier) then all I can say is SOCOM 16.

EOtech, well...their mount with that cheesy screw was something that needed addressing. That and their battery life. Looks like they've dealt with both and done so in a good way. Good for them. If they can keep the price reasonable, they will be even more of a challenger to Aimpoint.

S&W MP, sounds like a real quality pistol. They claim all parts are stainless steel. Looks ergonomic. Real high quality. Wonder what the price will be. In a market place of XD's and such...it will be TOUGH for them to get a piece of the pie....Thank goodness they've made the stupid mag disconnect optional.

S&W AR-15. Knowing S&W it will probably be of high quality. I can't imagine they make the entire rifle. Not even Colt does. Probably just another assembler who offers some sort of quality control. AR-15 market is pretty jam packed. Demand is high, and there are backorders everywhere.

(S&W has really turned around with their new ownership/management)

I have reason to believe the S&W AR15 has Stag uppers on it and the Troy Industries guy said those are his rails on them. It was a decent looking lower, I wouldn't mind getting one, but I live in California and S&W is not going to be parting them out so I would have to buy a complete rifle and have someone affix an attached magazine to it or remove all of the evil features then send it in.

Correia do you want to add a 10 round fixed magazine to those SIG 550s and send a bunch to California? You could make a fortune!

I liked the LMT MRP CQB .223 and 6.8mm package so much I want to do a group buy! http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=182817

Did EOTech make another revision that I missed? What is the deal?

Sig 556

The 556 is cool. But before I get one I'm going to wait to see if their are any issues to sort out. Is this going to be a piston or gas operated weapon?

I'm a bit miffed, as I can't find any further info or pics on this ACE bullpup, even on ARF. Was this a secret, under the table prototype at ACE, or was it a display piece that, hopefully, will turn up in a photo online reasonably soon?

the south african 9mm was marketed in the US by heritage arms as the "stealth". it came in 9mm and .40. and worked on a delayed blowback system like the hk p7

last time i saw them advertised they was going for <$300

I really liked the FN SCAR rifle. Very slick. The FN2000 rifle is nice, but I liked the SCAR a lot better. Less Star Wars and more "Let's just make a really good fighting rifle." The charging handle didn't bother me.
Seems everyone had an AR-15... I was afraid North American Arms would have one in their booth too. Glad to see they didn't.
Dan Wessons' new bobtailed Commander sized 1911 is pretty slick, I liked that one. I especially liked that 10MM was an option with it. Taurus also gave 10MM some love this year with 2 new revolvers. A 5 shot Tracker and a 6 shot long barreled gun perfect for hunting. Very nice. 10MM isn't dead yet.
I liked Taurus' new compact 24/7. That's pretty good... in my opinion the jury is still out on the 24/7 but the compact job looked and felt good.
North American Arms is working on their new little .32H&R Magnum revolver. They didn't have a prototype at SHOT, but I was shown photos and drawings of the gun... when it comes out, it should be a real gem.
Glock didn't have any new guns out... because no one has made any new calibers.

Were you able to get any news on the status of the rifle? I.e., I want to know when I can get my sweaty hands on one. :D

That was probably unintentionally funny, but I lol'd none the less. :D
