So as the title says guys what gun are you going to use for the hunt me ole reliable my dads 30 30 marlin 336

For the gun season I have used the same rifle for the past 16 years...a Browning A-bolt II chambered in 7 mag.

For the primitive weapon season I'll use a .45-70 Handi Rifle (legal in MS for that season).

If I have the time to get it together I might even put a scope on my Ruger Blackhawk in .41 mag...I've been wanting to hunt with it for years but the timing has never worked out.

I picked up a Marlin 336 LTS this year and it would be really neat to kill a deer with it...but it's in such pretty shape I'm not sure if it will go to the field.

I use my 14" 7-30 Waters T/C Contender pistol for most of my hunting, but if I know I might be shooting at hogs over 250 yards away, I take my 300 WSM. Have been extremely happy with the results of both cartridges.

I have always used a Winchester model 88 in .308, but we just sold our property that is legal for rifle hunting. The only land I have to hunt on this year is shotgun only, so I'll be rocking the A5 for now. I'm in the market for a slug gun though.

Winchester 70 EW, McMillan Edge stock, Leupold VX-3 2.5-8X36 scope. Loaded with 130 gr TTSX's @ 3050 fps.

I always try to kill the first deer of the year with my 1886 40-82. After that I will go to the 45-70, and then maybe the 38-70. Anybody who was any good would probably stick to the same rifle and learn it, but it makes little difference to me after enough years of shooting these rifles. I am an old man, and I can't see the front sight all that well in low light. Last year I shot one at maybe forty feet with the 40-82, so close that all I had to do was lift the barrel, and another one at sixty feet with the 38-70. Maybe the old rifles have a memory of my youth and their youth, and they don't let me down.

Marlin Model 30AW in 30-30 loaded with 160 gr. Hornady Lever Revolution. Topped with a Bushnell 3-9x32 or a Redhawk .44 mag w/ 6.5" barrel and open sights, depending on my mood. Even during gun season most of the deer I shoot are in bow range, either of the two listed above are very effective.

Tikka T3 in 300 wsm for stand and field hunting and my Marlin 1895G for tromping through the woods.

Rem Gamemaster 7600 30-06 pump for longer shots. A Marlin 336 in 35 rem w/ iron sights for brush stomping. Really wish I would have gotten with it and put a peep sight on the Marlin, but oh well, it's sighted in with factory irons.

Marlin 336 with 150gr power shoks. Open sights, have a cheap 3-9x32 scope, but my longest shot is 67yrds so I just use the sights since they have less chance of losing their zero. Kind of my Glock 30,in the event that I see a deer less than 12yrds while doing stuff around the place.

Marlin 336 in 30-30 with scope. I shot my first deer with this rifle when I was 16. I then started hunting in shotgun only county, but luckily the county switched to rifle about 12 years ago, so back to the Marlin.

M14S (308) 168gr BTHP

ARMS #18 mount, but I'm using iron sights this time.

It's all but replaced my old hoard of other hunting rifles since I built it back in 2006.

Depends on the day, the weather and how I'm huntin'.:D

I generally use handguns as my primary deer gun anymore. So it could be the P.C. X-Frame .460 or the P.C. "Magnum Hunter" 629. Should I luck out early in the season, I may go back for the bonus deer with a 6'' 686. If I use a rifle, it means I am still hunting and/or jump shooting and odds are it will be one of the handgun caliber carbines, either the .357 lever, the .44 lever or the 77/44. The little Ruger has proven to be a great gun for that purpose.

My next rifle for a deer hunt would be my Swiss K 31 with Hornady 165 gr BTSP. Just plain jane open sights to boot. I have zeroed this rifle at 100 yrds and got a 1.5 inch grouping.

Same gun I've used for the past 10 seasons, Rem 700 in .270 win. I did replace the scope with a 3-9x40 VX-2 this year though. I may give the model 29 a try before it's said and done.
